Poor Gwendolyn was found on a scavenging outing by Sabrene. The little fae hatchling seemed to have been wandering, and was starving and weak. Sabrene quickly took her home where she tried to feed her, but the little fae was too weak to eat. She took the quickly failing hatchling to Dr. Elva, where she hoped she could help. Sadly, the hatchling was not doing well within the lair's temperate environment and was starved of both nutrition and hydration. She couldn't even cry out. Sabrene was heartbroken when the frail child died. She was too late...

That was, until Hazel stepped in and offered to save her with a magic spell. The little fae was of the ice element and Hazel was able to will the ice to preserve the hatchling's tiny body and freeze it while she lay down an enchanting circle beneath her. Sabrene watched as Hazel summoned powers, wicked and dark, with cold snow blowing in a spiraling flurry around the fae's tiny frozen body.
Miraculously, the fae was brought back from the grave, shivering and confused, but otherwise moving and breathing. Though she was also resurrected bearing an icy curse, unable to ever feel warmth again, and having all she touches become chilled and cold. Even her tears would freeze once they dripped from her face.

Sabrene wished to comfort the young hatchling, and offered her a place to stay. But Hazel reminded her that the young fae could not survive anyplace without cold air, or she will perish and melt. She seemed a frail little thing still, despite being brought back to life. Scared and confused, the little fae let out a crying scream, and a wave of freezing magic surged from her, coating her surroundings in a lair of ice and snow. She had untapped powers, that of which Hazel sought fit to get her to control and utilize in helping stabilize the temperatures of some of the areas of the kingdom which could combat the fiery heat.

She took the fae under her wing and gave her a place to stay. Hazel named her Gwendolyn, since the young fae did not have a name or any memory of one. Since the incident of her outburst, the cold, undead little fae had soon become quite the rumor around the kingdom, and what's more, she was treated with both uncertainty and worry, but was still welcome. Sabrene visited her any time she could, and would bring her small gifts to help her feel better. Including a little pendant necklace with a tiny gem inside to remind her of her own pure, icy splendor. Gwendolyn felt more at ease with Sabrene, having bonded with her despite being of opposite elements. Sabrene introduced her to the other few ice dragons of the kingdom, and Gwendolyn found solace with Evie, Honeydew, and especially Isamar, who's shyness and gentleness was comforting, as well as her tolerance of the cold. Though it was Queen Mizeyera who felt the most delighted to have the fae welcomed into the lair. Despite knowing the curse she had to now be under thanks to Hazel, Gwendolyn has new life, though it is a most lonely and isolating one.

Some might see her as a monster, or a freak of nature, a zombie or an icy corpse without a heart. But such is not true at all. Gwendolyn is a very gentle and kind-hearted fae, with all the warmth a fire dragon might have. It's just that she cannot even be near a candle without feeling extreme fear. She must be kept cool at all times, and though she is still learning to control her powers and use them to her benefit and to the benefit of others, she is capable of freezing any intruders that try to come in.
