Petal's birth clan didn't want her; they sent her to the Auction House as a young hatchling. Luckily, she was picked up by a clan that kept her and raised her as one of their own, rather than raise her to be exalted like most of her siblings.

Petal's best friend in her new clan is Tidal, another Skydancer who shares similar experiences with her. The two greatly enjoy hanging out with each other, and when Petal moved to the Hibernal Den, she and Tidal exchanged gifts and kept in touch.

Now that Petal has finally left the Hibernal Den, she accompanies and lives with Tidal on the floe set up for the clan's Flight Representatives. She's become good friends with Fathom as well, and can't help from playing pranks on Tidal through his apprentice. The three of them share a playful and affectionate relationship.
