  • born to a secluded clan high up in the Windswept Plateau. They were mostly farmers and fishers.
  • family owned a small fishing business on a stretch of river; Allen was expected to take over the business and Go Big™ with it someday. Like, become a River Fishing Tycoon or whatever. To which he went, "Nnnnnnope!"
  • dreamed of becoming a great fighter instead
  • was very, very relieved when the Search kicked in and he was allowed to leave the clan (instead passing the family business on to a younger, non-Guardian sibling)
  • trained SO HARD to become a Super Guardian, man
  • eventually found his Charge -- who turned out to be waaaaaayy stronger than him. Whoops.
  • Also, his Charge is intent on Going Big™ and becoming a (Put Your Industry of Choice Here) Tycoon.
    "Allen, if I die in battle, you can have all my stuff, OK??"
  • Allen is destined to become a business tycoon, aaaaaaaaahhhhh
  • In the meantime, when he is not ambling about and giving moral support to Crawford, he spends most of his time... *drumroll* ...farming fish for the Disillusionists, muwahahahahaaaaaaa!!!
    They're familiars and pets, though, not food, so it's totally different from his old job, you guys.
  • Also it's by the sea and he gets to travel frequently and meet plenty of new people now, so he doesn't mind it as much.
  • Buddies with Rahab, Asenath, and Indra. He's more comfortable with Indra. Asenath's OK too, but he's sometimes not sure how to react to the way she suddenly pops up and offers unsolicited fish-caretaking advice. He much prefers Rahab's calmer, more educational approach, but sometimes gets lost in all the ichthyological jargon.
  • Is very musical and can play a variety of instruments. He can sometimes be found standing by his fishpond, whistling or playing music for his fish.
