“Yeah, I’m a Light dragon. My eyes are just a bit red because I’ve stayed up a bit too late. Can’t stop in the middle of a chapter!”
The clan’s library is vast, and stepping inside the cavern of scrolls is awe-inspiring. Large stone pillars support the ceiling, which is near invisible in the darkness, as the light comes from mushrooms on the floor and lamps on the tables. In this flickering light, a few dragons can usually be seen in the library: a late student cramming for a test; a mother reading softly to her hatchlings; a scientist researching past experiments. One dragon, however, is almost always in the library.
Zon holds a lamp up to the shelves, searching for the right space to put this last scroll. Of course, every so often she’ll have to stop and switch around a few scrolls that have been put out of order. Another young dragon watches, afraid to ask for help, but struggling to find what she needs. He finally succumbs to his need and approaches Zon. “E-excuse me,” he almost whispers, afraid that his voice may be too loud, but the Pearlcatcher turns to him with a warm smile. Encouraged, the dragon asks, “Could you… could you p-please direct me to the engineering section?” “Of course, dear,” Zon replies softly, turning and flicking her tail, gesturing for him to follow. The dragon does so, surprised at Zon’s warmth, surprised at his own fear. Suddenly, the sound of tearing parchment fills the cavern. Everyone freezes. Zon’s gaze turns slowly and fixes on a startled-looking Mirror, holding two halves of a scroll in his claws. Another moment of silence passes, and then Zon bolts at the Mirror, who manages to get away with only minimal injuries. Deep breaths, shoulders heaving… and then the librarian’s calm, quiet demeanor returns as she leads the young dragon to the engineering scrolls. Lore/Layout by @Bibbit From @MythDancer |
