Biography

ACINONYX
Progenitor + Lair Co-Creator + Lair Leader

Most dragons on Sornieth originate from families. A fraction come from the gods. They're divine acts, but not uncommon ones.

[progen, lair co-creator & leader + Argos's mate] [she needs a more formal title than "leader" but idk what it should be yet; she's a general manager that touches on & stays knowledgeable on all lair activities, including inventory/hoard stores, funds, current lair residents, Coliseum business, gathering trips, Auction House sales, patrol against beasts, and justice for conflict/crime within the lair] [many of these tasks are done by residents that have earned her trust, who keep her informed on what's happening & answer her questions] [besides keeping an eye on the lair's well-being, she's particularly active in organizing/selling/hoarding/etc. incoming Coliseum items, so her and Solanum are BFFs]

[I’ll write something more formal later, hopefully, but Acinonyx’s backstory is that she was probably in a pretty normal situation for a progenitor dragon][she had no ties to other dragons besides Windsinger, which left her feeling unrooted, so she built a foundation for herself by setting up a lair][she was happy with her progenitor mate (a Guardian that hadn’t chosen his name yet) & didn’t feel any need to question their relationship— they clicked well together, they’d always known each other and had a shared history, they were made for each other, and it seemed like Windsinger’s intent of pairing them together was working well in execution -> Acinonyx’s mate wound up leaving her and the lair to go on a Search, which was when she realized that she’d been wrong in assuming either she or their lair was his charge][it was a hot mess of a situation where her mate wanted to drop his share of work in their lair with no notice, and she had to wrestle with understanding some new concepts on top of the break-up, so Acinonyx was very Normal about this for a while afterward. Acinonyx basically felt like Eve if Adam looked at her one day, went “nah”, then left forever LOL]
—>
[haven’t hashed out the details yet but there’s something lore-wise going on with Wisp that also reflects on her resentment of how things went down with her mate][Wisp looks like a little seaside ghost so I kept poking at that impression, and now my vague idea is that they’re both a character & a ghost, because something terrible happened early on in the lair’s history but Wisp still remains here as a fairly lucid dragon and they weren’t lost. Acinonyx is also Normal about this, probably even moreso, because she could only be upset about her mate for so long but she’ll always wish that Wisp didn’t have to handle the pain they went through & their ongoing isolation due to how unique their situation is. Wisp being Acinonyx’s first child is another aspect of all this. Wisp is part of the source of the lair’s motto “we do not mourn”, because like. they’re still here.][for rough draft/note collecting purposes, wanted to note here that the other part behind the motto is Acinonyx’s initial struggle to cope with exalting her children to serve Windsinger— she has never been one for letting go easily]
—>
[not actually sure how she met Argos yet, I just have an idea of their dynamic so far— will chip away at this][she’s definitely a lady that likes Guardians, for sure][is it the sense of security, or is it the beards? yes]
—>
[Acinonyx’s anger has evened out a lot with age, and as time passed without anything else devastating happening to her lol. She’s pretty mellow now. She’s always wanted to collect a reasonable amount of info before making decisions, but earlier on when she was actively angry & hurt, she would uncharacteristically jump to the most defensive option first. She’s still risk-averse now, but it’s much more balanced. She can handle a little more stress, she’s moved past snapping and being reactive, and she’s much more willing to delegate responsibilities to others with a higher risk tolerance than herself.]
—>
[Acinonyx’s method of working with other dragons and with amicable Beastclans is that she wants to chill, build up at least some rapport, and work collaboratively. If someone fails her vibe check and she expects that working with them is going to feel like either she’s twisting their arm or they’re twisting her’s, she will simply bounce lol. The dragons she trusts with Coliseum work are strong enough that her lair hasn’t had a problem with backlash from politely turning down anyone. They’re intimidating enough to ward off trouble, but either her lair wants to work with you or they don’t, they’re not a local source of conflict or grudges. This reflects on Acinonyx’s personality in that she’s very much a dragon that minds her own business.][She’s a good dragon to have a meaningful conversation with if you click with her. She’s too sedate for some dragons/Beastclan members, but that’s fine. Even if she wasn’t a Fae she would still have a reduced affect lol.]
