Hecate keeps to herself, mostly avoiding the company of the other dragons in the lair; their stares make her uncomfortable. She would have left long ago, if she dared, but she clings to the faint and fading hope that the matriarch or one who follows her will discover some new magic to stave off her condition.

She inherited the curse of gembond from her parents, but unfortunately for her, she was struck again by one of the enchanted cobras in her youth, which seems to have exacerbated the curse. Her body is very slowly turning entirely to gemstones, and even now it is only through the efforts of her magically-inclined clanmates that she has survived its progression thus far.
