Sneaky fingers and quick feet have carried her far in the world, and they’ll carry her farther yet. Atsune’s not entirely, one hundred percent sure how she ended up here, but it can’t hurt to stay. What’s it gonna do, cause the end of the world or something? Haha, no way.
Right? Right?? Please tell her she’s right for the love of the Plaguebringer.
A couple papers signed - she’s in the same bracket as a couple others, another “subject” in a project. She gets to know a few of them. Some are the first bracket’s offspring; they live in the building. Others are like her: they’ve been brought on to add diversity to the project, or something? It’s not super clear what the project’s meant to be doing, but she’s pretty sure she read something about how it’s supposed to make sure that there’s always a group of dragons that are able to breed with each other in one spot. In case the world ends, or something. Which it won’t.

And when it’s all said and done, Atsune’s allowed to leave. (If she slows down time a little to talk to her new friends for a little bit longer, that’s her own business.) The ones that leave promise to stay in touch with each other; the ones who don’t, well, they don’t. Atsune says she’ll send letters. She won’t, but only because she’ll forget to. They’ll meet again, anyway.

So she goes on her way. That’s that, what’s done is done, and so what if she gets the feeling she’s being watched sometimes?
