Biography
- every gaoler is a tundra but not every tundra is a gaoler
- gaolers are simply more mutated tundras, found all over sorneith, used heavily in war during the open decades of the fourth age dominance wars
- gaolers are simply referred to as such due to the icewarden keeping the highest populations of them
- of noble blood, traces straight iceborn back to several hand-created ice courtiers (though of low lines himself with no claim to them)
- each estate keeps their own army, families of sworn swords and hired mercenaries to lurk their halls. they appoint their own children to train the serfs and lead them into bloody reaphook-against-pitchfork feuds over hunting grounds
- the icewarden keeps his own army
- a private army of gaolers, which are dreaded throughout the icefields
- swear that anyone disloyal to the icewarden is their enemy, which can be lot of things
- basically the only dragons that can touch the ice nobles themselves, beyond the typical assassination and kidnapping shenanigans that they do to each other
- supposed to stop the ice nobles from collaborating by making them too paranoid to be seen together
- a clan who owes their position to the icewarden personally is much better in his eyes than one who inherited it, so he's taking every oppertunity to destabilize his noble class
- a gift from the icewarden to the virulent, while the windsinger was rooting through the fields for the wedding gift
- the purpose was 'here's a single gaoler from my army (they're so good you only need one) to help organize your own'
- nobody really. trusted him
- the icewarden had JUST killed like 800 raiders & his gaolers were used against the lonicera's crew so everyone was a little touchy about one joining them
- assumed he was a spy, that he'd report on their size and stores and arms
- so they kind of shunted him out into the dragonhome towns, and those weren't developed at all back then
- while he was not happy about getting sent away from the icefield, an order to help them as an order
- was upset that he wasn't appreciated
- WAIT
- lailuma
a) everyone knowing he's getting irradiated by lailuma's clan magic is enough to make them cool with him
b) now everything he does is meant to impress her and he's constantly getting in fights with her other courtiers
c) he is very very dedicated in the goldenhand and turning out his pockets to give every else his skills
