Cavir

Grave "Borrower"

Uh-oh, looks like this morally corrupt disturber of peace wandered a little too far from their home lair (452562, Hyzenthlaay), and now they’re off to see the world! If ever you feel the need to exalt them, we'd really appreciate it if you instead could just send them off in the 'Dragons Off To See The World' thread. If you don't want another traveler in return, they can be sent to their original home via the Crossroads, or this rest hub.

You can also adopt them permanently if you don’t want them leaving your lair - just contact Hyzenthlaay and let her know (it’s good for her notes)!

Many people have worked very hard on this traveling dragon, and exalting them would be an absolute shame. Please don’t do it!

Cavir thinks that the word "graverobbing" is a little too harsh for what she does. Is it really robbing if the dragon she's taking it from has absolutely no use of material possessions? Why shouldn't she make good money off of something sent to rot in the earth? It's completely asinine.

That's not the only thing that this philosopher finds nonsensical. If it were up to Cavir, she would spend as little time in society as possible. An introverted nerd by nature, all she wants to do is sit around and read novels, breaking only for her most basic meals. But unfortunately, the economy twists her claw into working - if she wants to survive long enough to finish a book - and if it's going to be like that, why not profit off of something illicit? Better than feeding into the monolith that is capitalism, right?

Right, that sounds about right.

Cavir's Traveling Log:

Alligatorsight, Alligator Clan wrote:
As Cavir was heading to her next visit, she found herself visiting a Water Flight Clan that lived in a city located inside a giant bubble on the sea floor near the Spiral Keep. The first dragons she met were a female ridgeback who was holding a Standard of the Tidelord, the other a black nocturne smoking a cigar. "I need to see your passport mam" said the nocturne in a deep military tone. As the guardian showed the nocturne her ID, the nocturne realized she was a traveler. "We have another traveler native from Clan Mavenlark" retorted the nocturne. "How many lairs has she been to?" the ridgeback asked "Three mam" the nocturne answered. "I will take it from here Admiral." retorted the ridgeback, "Tiny, you are dismissed" The nocturne gave the ridgeback a bow and headed off. The ridgeback was swing and waving her claws to get rid of the smoke from Tiny's cigar and the guardian figured out she was a little annoyed with his smoking. "My name is Haven Lee, I am Alpha Female of this clan. That was my husband Tiny. A long time ago I was a spiral. When I became a ridgeback, I never could learn to fly like one. I sort of crashed into things. Tiny made this deal with me that if I ever learned to fly right he would quit smoking, but when I started making progress, he did not cut back on his smoking habit, so I quit learning to fly."

After the introduction, Haven began to talk to Cavir about her home lair. "So you are from Mavenlark Clan?" the ridgeback asked "I am" the guardian responded. "I have heard of many clans in Sornieth, visited many lairs, but as much as I have heard of Mavenlark Clan, that is one lair I have never been to nor met the leader." "It's an Arcane Flight lair" the guardian responded. "I see" said the ridgeback "Star Fall region. Anyway, Welcome to Alligator Clan. "

The guardian stayed in Alligator Clan long enough to enroll in the Alligator Clan University of Flight for one semester. During her time at the University, she managed to become a level 7 grinder and write a book. Originally, she wanted to return to Mavenlark Clan to have it published, but with the advice of AC Alpha Female Haven, she decided to travel to a few more lairs and continue working on her book before returning home to have it published.

THE STORY IS JUST BEGINNING

Cavir figured that Plague and Shadow territories were good places to find graves. She stopped by a gravestone listing "Grimsley", but when she started to dig, there was no sign of any formerly living thing being buried there. Just some dried out husks of plants and various trinkets.

"Well, these probably won't sell well." Cavir thought.

"Hey!" a voice yelled, startling Cavir. When she found the source of the voice, she saw that he was a blue Tundra.

"Step away from the gravestone!" the Tundra told her, coming closer.

"But there's nothing in there." Cavir answered.

"I know." the Tundra admitted, appearing to be trying not to cry.

"...What?" Cavir asked.

"Grimsley was the name of one of my sons." the Tundra admitted. "He was murdered in cold blood by his most trusted friend... his own younger brother. His body was buried in the spot where he died, but I wanted to set up a memorial for him anyway."

Cavir felt somewhat guilty after this. She hadn't really thought about how it felt to lose a loved one - hearing what had happened to this Tundra put things in perspective.

"I'm sorry." she admitted. "I take things from graves for the purposes of making money... I didn't believe there was any good reason to leave things there. I thought I had to work somehow. You see, I'm in need of money-"

"Well, why didn't you say so?" the Tundra asked. "I'm the leader of a rather well-respected clan around here, and I can always get you some riches if you need. Come with me."

After some conversations, Cavir learned that the Tundra's name was Naxo. Naxo led her to the lodge that travelling dragons stay at, where she was allowed to read and work on novels for as long as she wanted.

Cavir left the next day, but Naxo gave her a word of advice - "Oh, and ask before you take things from graves, alright?"

@Hyzenthlaay here! This dragon is officially a part of the "Around the World in 365 Dergs" challenge. Check out the thread for information and more travelers like this! ...or just read the following:
  • The general idea is that I am going to create 365 unique traveling dragons, send them off into the world, and see what happens. I'm also going to complete mini-challenges along the way using travelers. If that interests you, consider checking the challenge thread out!
  • I don't want to overflood the system with just my dragons, so adopting travelers from me to live in your lair is totally fine! In fact, I'm betting on it. Just let me know.
  • Always feel free to tell me when you have this dragon in your lair! I love hearing updates.
