Biography
Tanjou Clan. Swamp Rose. |
ᅠᅠᅠᅠ"I've never known myself as well as I know myself when I'm with you."

There were always legends - some dragons tend to believe them, and some choose not to, but it is agreed they’re at least partly true. If not for that, they won’t even appear. According to one of those ancient tales, wilted rose was once thrown away and fell in the deep swamp, and according to the other, two lovers died in mire, and turned into beautiful roses growing through the mud. But since no one tended to them, abandoned and lonely, roses turned black, still agonizingly beautiful. Those roses had fragments of souls, multiplying while growing, wilting, and blooming again, until one day, they became something sentient. The Prince was born. He had a soul of a dragon but it was blank as the one of a flower – no emotions, no hopes, no love. He existed by himself in the depth of his swamp, as if in his own kingdom, with roses as his lieges, for a long time. He got to know the little world around him, learning, as he could, about plants and animals, getting familiar with weather and celestial bodies. Naive and honest like a newborn, he never felt pain or disappointment – rose thorns were gentle to him, and if he ever felt something, there was nothing to compare it with, and no words to describe it. One day he was found by Chheu – and she managed to persuade him to discover even more of the world and its wonders. As he was mute, he started to learn how to speak, delighted with how many words are out there to describe whatever he saw. Barkarole now had a name, as well. It was satisfying to convey his emotions into words now, and it surprised him how much of those he actually had. |
