Daybreak dropped from the heavens as an egg, caught by Sunset in the split second before his shell broke on the ocean's surface. He was incubated along with her clutch, and raised as another of her hatchlings - though much smaller than the rest!

Despite his unusual origin story, Daybreak easily slotted in with the rest of the clan, particularly his adoptive family. He was taught to swim and soar with all the other Water hatchlings, and when the time came, he and his siblings were expected to leave the clan to forge a new path. Bidding a farewell and see-you-later to his brother and best friend Sunshower, Daybreak took off for the Oculus of the Eleven - pursuing a chance to enhance his magic ability.

As well-intentioned plans often do, things went awry. Daybreak's application for residency was somehow lost, and the rural-raised Fae paled in the face of the social hub the Arcane capitol turned out to be. After the debacle over paperwork, Daybreak took to the skies without a second thought, not stopping until he stumbled across a settlement built into a rib of the Crystalspine Reaches. At first glance, it seemed the overhang was natural; a crystalline substance that jutted out over the water far, far below. Yet as Daybreak drew nearer, he realized the waxy fuchsia material was magically made and enhanced to provide structure for the nest of Fae. All of them, Fae.

There were a few other Fae back in Sunbeam Grotto, but Daybreak had never been surrounded by creatures of his own kind (and his own size) quite like this. Though his dreams of studying at the Oculus of the Eleven were lost along with his application, during the time he stayed with the Fae colony, Daybreak learned much more about his magic and himself than he'd anticipated.

Even so, it was never a question in Daybreak's mind whether or not he'd return to his coastal home. Without a speck of prior planning, Sunshower and Daybreak arrived on the same day to Sunbeam Grotto, where their homecoming was celebrated with a feast - and, of course, a dance!




After he heard his family was planning a reunion, Daybreak felt eager to get over his shy tendencies and meet some of his distant relatives. While his small size may make him a misfit in a lineup of his siblings, Daybreak's kindness and flying skill identify him as a true member of Sunset's legacy! For the upcoming reunion, he volunteered to help gather donations and distribute party favors for the guests.

During the reunion, Daybreak spent much of his time in the sky or high on the cliffs - the crowds were dangerously thick on the bustling beach for a small Fae! Still, he enjoyed the various events alongside his family and new friends. Daybreak was most fascinated by the stories he heard of his relatives' adventures across the lands - he'd had no clue of the legendary exploits of his distant family members! Of course, the final night's dance in the sky was a highlight for Daybreak as well - he was bursting with pride at the chance to soar with so many of his relatives!
