Biography
Traverse Town
from Kingdom Hearts
from Kingdom Hearts
Traverse Town is a world first featured in Kingdom Hearts 1, is the first world traveled to after leaving the main character Sora's home world, and acts as a main hub throughout the game where items can be purchased. Traverse Town is a world for castaways and is full of characters who have survived having their home worlds destroyed by the Heartless, and seems to be perpetually night time. As the first major world, it introduces a lot of important pieces to the game. Here, we see an NPC lose their heart and turn into a heartless, we meet major characters Leon, Yuffie, Aerith, Cid, Merlin, we learn the purpose of the Keyblade, and have Donald and Goofy join our party. Traverse Town also introduces the use of magic, trinities, Pooh's storybook, summons, the quest to find the lost 99 Dalmatian puppies, synthesizing, and a short quest to find postcards scattered through the town in order to obtain free items. The Boss of Traverse Town is Guard Armor, which after being defeated, later returns as a more powerful Opposite Armor, as well as Leon early on as he tries to take Sora's Keyblade. Traverse Town is not a visitable world in the direct sequel Kingdom Hearts 2. When it came to designing this dragon, I wanted colors that gave me the most nostalgic feeling, so I based it primarily on the first district. Primary color and gene represents the cobblestone ground, the secondary color and gene represents the night sky, and the tertiary color and gene represents all the warm orange-yellow neon lights found throughout the first district. For apparel, I turned the tail into a lamppost, the alchemist's apparel are more of the glowing lights, and the nightshroud is meant to represent the rooftops. I chose the male guardian pose as the wings (sky) are above everything else. |
