Fracture hatched with Atryix in a deep crevice in the Shattered Plain. She had to learn to survive all on her own, without the help of other, full grown Veilspun. Her and Atryix grew very close during their childhoods, but everything crumpled out from under her the day that Atryix was killed by an especially hungry Hainu. Without her friend, Fracture was alone and scared in a world that was so, so big. Without Atryix, she started to struggle to find food, and had to resort to stealing from local Beastclan food stores to stay alive. One day, she was discovered stealing food from them, and an enraged centaur trampled her nearly to death, kicking a hole in the side of her skull. Luckily, only a few minutes after she was injured, she was found by a kind Tundra named Sayf, who was passing through and happened upon her. He quickly flew her back to his den in the Tangled Wood and showed her to Dana, and she quickly patched her up. When she woke up in a totally unfamiliar place, Fracture nearly had a panic attack. Luckily, Sayf was there to calm her down, and he explained how he had found her and brought her back to his clan. She listened quietly, but didn’t feel entirely safe in his clan, despite the fact that she hadn’t been hurt already. She politely asked if they could let her go, and they complied, giving her a small burlap sack full of food to take with her on her way. She thanked them and left the small clan behind, quickly realizing that she was much safer in the Tangled Wood than she had been in the Shattered Plain. The murky, impenetrable darkness and thick bramble patches that pockmarked the woods were perfect cover for her to hide in. Fracture lived on, staying in the wood and keeping to herself. However, one day she was found by a foreboding Skydancer in a purple tailcoat. He decided that she was just right to preform a test spell on, one that would keep a dragon young and beautiful forever. Despite her pleading, Fracture could not escape. Upon the spell’s casting, she was turned back into a younger version of herself, much too young to be what the spell was intended for. The Skydancer huffed in irritation and let her go, and she promptly got as far away from his den as she could, hiding away in the Foxfire bramble. There she stayed, feeding off of the patches of Glow Mushroom that grew beneath the brambles. Occasionally she would break open a rotting log and feast on the insects inside. If she was lucky, she would find a Duskrat nest inside. Eventually, Harmony found her and brought her to the swarm’s cavern. She now lives in quiet peace with the rest of the swarm, safe and happy.
