Biography
PERSONABLE PORTAL-HOPPER
Raum is, by all means, kind of strange, which is probably because he's not from this dimension. Raum is very certain that he hails from the other side of the Forbidden Portal-- the only problem is that the trip over seems to have scrambled his memory a little. He clearly has some ties to Sornieth, considering he takes the form of a dragon, but he exhibits enough abnormalities that his stay in the Other Side is fairly apparent. He doesn't need to eat or sleep(though he enjoys doing both), his blood is a rather neon shade of pink, and in addition to being able to take a humanoid half-morph, he can also polymorph into an enormous crow.
Despite his glaring abnormalities and somewhat intimidating appearance, he's fairly polite and soft spoken. He's a little bit vain, but not overbearingly so- he mostly just comes off as having a healthy amount of self-confidence.
Even though he's magically adept and reasonably intelligent, his trip back into Sornieth left his fighting skills somewhat lackluster. He's heard, though, that a dragon named Mercer was looking for someone to accompany him on a trek around all of Sornieth, and ultimately to the Portal. Seeing his opportunity to potentially return 'home', he enlists himself for the cause.
⁂
Throughout the ordeals of the Crusade, Raum found himself growing closer and closer to his fighting companions. In the early nights, he found himself worrying endlessly about The Other Side- how he would get there, what would happen when he went back through. As time went on, however, his thoughts began to shift. Instead, he found himself wondering: would he regret leaving Sornieth behind? Leaving Mercer and Oberon behind?
This new worry grew more and more as the months dragged longer, as the Portal drew closer. By the time they made it to the barren, rocky plane heralding the gateway, Raum had very much made his mind up. What did it matter, if he was from somewhere else? What did it matter, if he wasn't hatched the same way the rest of his companions were? He loved them. He cared for them. He'd made memories and bonds here, in Sornieth. And that, to him, made the place more home than simply the location of his birth.
Raum is happy, now, to finally be home. He hasn't regretted his decision for a second, and if anything, he's full of more vigor now than ever before. He travels between the fiefs, visiting every corner of Furvus and getting to know the dragons there, and at the end of the day, he settles back down in a cozy spot in the dens of one of his friends.
