Charona's Theme: The Sound of Silence

Charona was born three years ago to a plague flight that heavily focused on escorting their own kin to the altar of the Plaguebringer to be exalted and fulfill their purpose. She's still unsure how she managed to avoid becoming exalted all those years ago, but it is all she knew when Bumble happened upon her.

It was many moons ago now that Bumble and Sadie were wandering the plague-ridden forests just outside the wandering contagion. At the time, all Charona saw was a helpless hatchling, lost and far from home. She saw an opportunity for a potential meal and swooped in on her wings in an attempt to grab Bumble and pull him into the sky. For the sweet boy, when she attempted to dig her claws into his soft coat, something inside her burst—a longing feeling she had never felt before. For the first time in her existence, even above that of her own kin, that she led to the plague altar, she felt seen.

Sadie lept into Charona's path as she came to a halt before the party.

"Be cautious, mirror; you know not what you get yourself into." Sadie's words drifted softly but firmly through the air.

Charona squinted at the tiny ball of fluff that was slowly blinking at her. What had just happened? She couldn't quite put her finger on what would have caused her not to rip him apart. In that moment, Bumble furrowed his right brow and met the feral mirror's gaze once again.

"I can offer you a home where you will no longer need to scavenge for your food. There will be a plentiful bounty of resources at your disposal, and all I ask is that I might utilize your expertise in other ways." His voice was similar to what you might think a chipmunk sounds like.

The mirror nodded at the small dragon and accepted his offer. How could she decline now? As those have said before, there is just something about this hatchling that leaves Charona wanting to further explore the possibilities.

When I first met Bumble, he told me that I would no longer be asked to ferry my own brood to the altars to be exalted. While this is a generous offer, my job within this flight is to still do as I always have; however, these dragons are specifically chosen and trained to serve the light mother. While we do not hold attachment to those who come from this lair to be taken to the altar, we do hold ceremonies so that the passing to the altar is seamless.
