Asher was the only colorful coatl hatched in a nest of three other almost all-white hatchlings. Coddled by Yusei, he's been told he was quite lucky to not catch ill. He's quiet and shy, but flaunts his beautiful peacock spots with pride.

One of his siblings was stolen away in the night on their hatch day by coatl wearing a white-feathered bird skull. He could only stare at her with big, silent eyes as she departed as silently as she came, his all-white sister curled gently against her chest. In the morning, when her sister was not returned, he cried to Yusei, who showed no concern.

"But why?" He pleaded. "She didn't say goodbye!"

That was the first he'd heard of the Smokefeathers, who lived in secret in the Tangled Wood and stole away babies of bad omens, which Yusei insists is a good thing, since it all but ensures the health of the more colorful babes.

"Do not search for them," Yusei warns firmly. "White plumage breeds nothing but despair."

Often, he perches atop the den and stares into the woods, hoping to catch sight of his sister, although Yusei, Goshawk, and Persephone are all adamant that it is for the best.

"It will pass," the clan prophet insists, peeking into her pearl and seeing things there that no other dragon can fathom. "His fears will pass, like all storms, it will pass."

But Asher swears he won't forget her. And he promises he'll find her.
