River is an introspective dreamer, who has a deep knowledge and appreciation for everything that moves and grows.
Born to a struggling artist and a distant fisherman, River was often made to wait at the teahouse for breakfast to dinner. His mother had always been a focused painter and trinket designer, whose every breath revolved around the pursuits of her brush. At the time the Consulate was still a place of honour. This caused a rise of tourism, industrialization, consumerism and the arrival of haute couture. Business boomedfor those who stole the limelight.
River learned to resent her hasty goodbyes as much as he loved her warm missed you's, and his fear of dismissal made him both distant to and jealous of the teahouse hatchlings. After all, he saw them as abandoned, but unconditional loved and united in their solitude, something he was not eager to be part of, yet longed for.
River kept away from the teahouse inhabitants. He was sullen but curious and thus he fell in love with nature. Initially, he stalked the plants and birds, but like all mangrove children, he observed the water and learned to love the fish and the currents.
River was a sure swimmer, but Tincture and Tempest caught the best fish with their wonderful dives. To best them he first begged father, and the clan huntress for lessons. It may have been fortunate that these pleas were not answered, since this bought him closer to Tincture, an older sister and patient tutor.
