Biography
You step into the den, feeling the incessant blaze of the sun instantly dull and cool into a soothing breeze. It is rather dim in here, and curiously you look around. The place is dotted with sleeping dragons. Some lie curled in corners, tucked into blankets and moss quilts, some sprawled comfortably on the floor, tail twitching occasionally. The quiet atmosphere lulls you into a comfortable state, and you feel ready to go to sleep yourself. |
As you are about to fall into slumber, a small bundle of colour bounds up to you, goat-like eyes shining in excitement. “A visitor!” he chirps, body trembling in anticipation. “I’m Philautia, caretaker of the hibernators.” You regard him closely, a curious Imperial hatchling seemingly stitched together, shimmering white veins spanning the entirety of his body. What exactly is this place? Why are there so many sleeping dragons? As if sensing your confusion, Philautia beckons to you as he travels further into the den. “Sometimes, dragons feel like changing their current appearance. Like this dragon over here,” he gestures to a dragon curled comfortably. “But changing your appearance isn’t such an easy thing. It requires a lot of energy, so they come here to rest and gather enough energy to change their traits. And I…” he trails off, puffing up in pride. “I’m in charge of making sure each of them is well and healthy!” |
You can’t help but smile at his adorable grin. You spend a while more in the cool, dark space, feeling every fibre in you relax. Finally, you decide to get moving, and as you step out of the den, Philautia stands at the entrance, bouncing up and down with the same excited smile on his snout. His small figure remains in your mind long after you depart the den. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Inspired by @skyarising in the wind flight. |
