OBERON
Clan Treasurer

The hatch of two first-generation immigrants to the Shifting Expanse, Oberon grew up under the influence of his mother's Wind-born wanderlust and his Arcane father's love for the stars. Though his desire to know what made things tick was equal to that of any other dragon in the Stormcatcher's domain, he had less of a pull to use that understanding to further his clan or flight, and more of a longing to simply compile, record, and share knowledge in its purest form.

Perhaps for these exact reasons, when he reached adolescence and began his first internship, he chose to accompany a research vessel out into the ocean on the far eastern reaches of Lightning's territory. The boat, though small and not especially seaworthy, was stuffed to the brim with all breeds of interns, who skittered about in small sub-groups, each pursuing a different project. Oberon signed on with a group of volunteers responsible for navigating the crowded ship; here, his knowledge of the cosmos and ability to read star charts would prove a great asset. His comrades, impressed by his infallible sense of direction and ability never to steer them wrong, gifted him with a heavy cape and furs to keep him warm from the bitter winds and frigid sea spray that often tormented the vessel. Touched by their display, the Tundra didn't have the heart to tell them that his thick coat already kept him perfectly well insulated, and instead kept the gifts, which he wears to this day.

After spending many moons sailing out to the furthest lightning farms and assisting their clans with any needed repairs, the exhausted group of sailors finally began the return voyage towards the mainland. No sooner had Oberon's paws reached the docks, however, than a new quest fell upon him- almost literally.

The travel-weary Guardian, though evidently in no shape to continue flying north, nonetheless took some coaxing before she'd agree to rest a while and continue on foot. During the first night of downtime, spent at a small hostel near the shore, the two talked a great deal. Though the Tundra could coax little information from the female, he did manage to pry out that she intended to travel to the Sunbeam Ruins next. On a whim, he decided to accompany her, figuring that there would be no better place to continue his studies than the land of Light, and knowing that his clan would easily assume he'd accompanied the other interns back to the Tempest Spire.

Though Titania seemed a little wary of his company, she didn't refuse him, and even went so far as to slow her pace a little to help Oberon keep up. Their conversations grew lengthier as the days passed, though she never seemed quite as vocal around any of the clans they stayed with, nor any less eager to continue on when the next morning dawned.

After covering almost the whole of the Lightweaver's domain, the duo continued on to the Tangled Wood. When they stopped in the Wispwillow Grove one evening, Oberon struck up a conversation with an especially inquisitive Coatl, who was delighted to hear that the travelers had stayed with his birth clan, and all but insisted that they stay. Oberon was perfectly content to do so, and despite some lingering uncertainty, Titania eventually agreed as well.

With his mate still often away from the clan on her wanderings, Oberon quickly sought a position in the clan with which to keep himself occupied. After pouring all his knowledge into Cetus's records, the Tundra went on to help Nigate with educating the hatchlings. After several clutches spent working together, however, the Guardian quickly caught the hang of it himself, leaving Oberon once more without an occupation.

After conversing with Poseidon and Heza about his predicament, the former finally suggested that the Tundra take charge of managing the clan's finances, to which he agreed. Oberon maintains that position to this day, and no member of the clan would have it any other way.

When not evaluating the clan's assets or collaborating with trade ambassador Aeolus, Oberon spends much of his time with good friend Cetus and his mate, Echidna. When Titania's out on her expeditions, the Tundra usually roosts with the Coatls, or occasionally in the clan's vault, should he lose track of time. There's been some discussion of him accompanying the two Coatls on one of their yearly expeditions back to Cetus's birth clan, but as of now, it's yet to come to fruition. Though Oberon has no doubt he'd enjoy such an excursion, he insists that his job and his mate, as frequently absent as she may be, are too important to him to permit such an excursion.
