Lady Stormslayer has devoted her life to two things: Her mate, Wingleader Basalt the Warrior Queen, and chronicling the history of the clan of rescued dragons they are building together.

Not one moment has the honourable Stormslayer regretted leaving her old life. The fine silks and expensive food? She would never pick them over the people she had around her now. Her dearest Basalt, fierce and powerful and young Seraphim, her child and apprentice.

Her clan around her, more valuable than an empire of hollow devotion. No, her clan would trust her as leader not by her birth but by her skills and actions. And primary of those actions would be ensuring that no moment would be forgotten. Careful ink on soft paper, gentle scratching of the quill, she drew out the tales of her new life.

A life she wouldn't change for anything.
