Shade's always been one to laugh at ghost stories- or at least at those who believe them. He named himself after the greatest horror their world knew, reveled in the old stories even as he waved them off. He took to the seas, still fascinated by those stories, and used his Shadow-born gifts to sear the terror of them into the minds of his enemies. As they fled the illusory Shade, the captain bearing its name would collect the gold and supplies left behind.
Then, one night, something attacked the boat- whispers of doom and preventing prophecies ringed in the air as a great claw splintered the ship. He disbanded the crew, made permanent port at Sinner's Bane, and considered his life proper over.


Fate brought him to Armand’s Assassination Station- a place to hire out mercenaries and contract killers. He signed up, made friends with the other two rotten-hearted murderers who’d taken on the task…
But once, on a job in Redrock Cove, he found something. Pitch black sea glass that whispered to him, promised him the world on a string, endless silver, revenge, glory, soft flesh and sweet words to call his own… and all he had to do was accept its gifts, and follow its whispers.
He’d always scoffed at ghost stories before… but how could he pass up the opportunity when this one was so sweet?
