Biography

Pine smiles as you approach him. He reaches into his robes and retrieves a tightly bound scroll entangled with several loose papers. He eyes you as he reaches to unfurl the scroll.
"The Credo of the Wounded. Read as much as you want," he smiles at you.
The Credo of the Wounded wrote:
-~-credo of the wounded-~-

We are the dragons of the Clan of the Wounded! The outcasted, disgusting, the reviled and revolting. These wastes are our home. We carve a new life from clay and stone. Our past lives in our past. The future is now. Our founders survived, and now we thrive. We turn our eyes to a prosperous future. We strive to give our descendants a life far richer than ours. As we remember our struggles and celebrate who we become, we face one another as friends and clanmates, and agree upon these laws:

i. this is a home to the outcast dragons of the world. those who seek solace in our home will find it.

ii. regard newcomers with caution, but not distrust.

iii. protect your clanmates at all cost.

iv. our ways are not those of seeking violent conflict.

v. to cast a dragon out from the clan is a serious charge. council must meet to determine if exile is warranted.

vi. to do harm upon a fellow clanmate or allied clan member is the highest offense a clan of the wounded dragon can commit.

vii. this is not, nor will ever be a clan led by fierce or heavy rule. council only meets when necessary and consists of all active clan members.

viii. the wastes are unforgiving and harsh, and our sanctuary can only thrive if every dragon living within it honors the job they are expected to perform. it is all we ask.

Pine is, as commonly associated with Tundras, very mellow. He is sociable, but not exceptionally outgoing, instead preferring to take friends and conversations as they come to him. Very patient and steady like a stone, he makes one of the best listening ears in the clan for anyone who is struggling, and does not judge. Coming from a good upbringing, he is quite positive and likes to focus his efforts on uplifting friends. However, away from other dragons, Pine has very little sense of individuality and bases his entire personality on how helpful he can be to others. Though his calm demeanor and helpful nature make him seem very sure of himself, he is anything but and actually greatly struggles defining who he is beyond someone meant to uplift other dragons.

Born to a happy, loving dragon couple with a standard upbringing, Pine lived a typical childhood before it was time to disembark from his birthclan. Any turbulence, or even plain excitement, came to Pine much later in life, removed from his pleasant childhood.

Growing up to a good, stable family and a happy home clan, everything was right in the life of a young Pine. He lived comfortably, not terribly wealthy or opulent in lifestyle, but always having enough food on the table and warmth and safety in his clan to retreat to. With an untroubled youth, it allowed Pine to truly flourish as he became his own person. Without survival to worry about, he had plenty of time to develop his personality and social skills.

He grew up laid-back and mellow, like any Tundra would be expected to, with an amicable and easygoing personality that made him easy to get along with. He was friends with just about every dragon his age in the clan, acting as a mediator between feuds and a helpful mutual connection between dragons he grew up with. As a hatchling and young adult, Pine fell right into the station of being that steady and helpful shoulder to lean on, helping his friends through the literal growing pains of maturing, finding love, going new places and finding their lot in life.

Speaking of finding their lot, Pine was quickly left behind by his friends, siblings and nestmates as they proceeded into the adult world on their own, but when asked, he would always say he was biding his time, making sure everyone else got on their feet before he left home. He couldn't live with himself if he accidentally left in someone's time of need.

When Pine finally did leave home, he confidently assured his loving parents he had a good life plan. And they believed him! Well-liked by just about everyone he grew up with, it was hardly surprising he was ready to take on the world. And after so many years of being the support for all the dragons around him, it was time for Pine to really start working on himself.

Trouble is, he actually didn't know a thing. Mounting pressure to grow up and the absence of any more friends at home eventually drove him to leave, but even as he flew away from his birthplace, he cringed to himself, knowing there was no turning back--but he was leaving with no plan at all.

After miserable weeks of wandering, walking when his wings tired but otherwise staying to the skies, Pine found his way to a sanctuary ran by a kindly Coatl on the Zephyr Steppes, meant to act as a temporary home for dragons with no clans, plans, or chance to form their own just yet. It was hard, living among so many outcasted dragons who suffered far rougher lives than he had, but everyone in the area was incredibly empathetic, including a Fire Spiral, Constantine, who he was assigned to share his quarters with. For spending so much time alone, it was a relief for Pine to have Constantine to talk to, and with the other dragon's neurotic nature, Pine was back to being the supportive friend he had grown up as. It was comforting, knowing he at least had something he understood well. And through living together, Constantine and Pine grew quite close. After parting from his siblings and childhood friends, now finally having that connection again, Pine somewhat dreaded the day a clan would eventually take one of them in, for as happy of a day as that would be, they would surely be separated.

When that day did come, it was when, among the visitors to the sanctuary was a small traveling party of two Tundras and an eager, younger looking Aberration. With the small amount of other Tundras in the sanctuary, the party of Tundras (and their Aberration friend) approached him rather quickly. The far elder of the two Tundras introduced himself as the patriarch of a clan for misfits and outcasts in the Scarred Wasteland, and with how few Tundras have been finding homes in other clans lately, he was happy to take more of his kin in if Pine had something he could provide for the clan.

When Pine asked what he had in mind, the older Tundra simply told him to think of anything he was good at. Pine mentioned his personable nature and way of being better taking care of other dragons than himself, and the old Tundra perked up and explained that if he wanted to put those skills to use, their clan needed someone to keep, maintain, and to some degree enforce their creed--enforce being in a far more diplomatic sense, of course, really meaning closer to "educating". Pine agreed that joining a clan would be best for him so he could put in some real work and stop leeching off the Coatl sanctuary-runner's charity, but he couldn't help but fret...

He mentioned Constantine, and their friendship, and though Constantine was not present for the discussion, Pine asked if there was anything to be done wherein they could join the clan together. He told both his and Constantine's stories in detail, asking for the old one's judgement if they were "trouble enough" to be considered worthy clan members. The elder only smiled, and informed him there was no "measure" to how much of a misfit one could be or feel like... and that there was a position as loremaster Constantine might also be a good fit for.

Despite initial misgivings of how well they would fit in among the diseased and exiled, Constantine and Pine moved into the clan quite well. They share a den together, just as they roomed together back at the sanctuary (though this time by choice), and though there is nothing "defined" between them, the two are certainly more... touchy-feely with each other than other dragons who are simple friends.

Pine committed himself to keeping the creed quite well, happy to have a station and a purpose, but on top of that, he still had plenty of reason to chat with all his new clanmates. And given the troubled pasts most of them come from, his tranquil and kind personality has become extremely beloved among clanmates (numerous ones) who need a good listening ear. He is delighted to discuss the creed and any questions regarding it with clanmates and visiting parties alike.

72272852p.png ? Constantine has been inseparable from Pine since they first met at the sanctuary. Pine's gentle and laid-back nature makes a perfect match for the neurotic Constantine, who can ramble to him about anything and everything, from feelings to interests to memories. In turn, Pine sees Constantine as someone who gives him a great deal of purpose, who helps him feel wanted and like he is making some kind of positive difference. They enjoy sharing lots of physical intimacy and Pine likes no sight in the world better than Constantine's smile.
58511354p.png Marshal is extra paternal to young male Tundras in the clan, reminded of his younger brothers, and Pine is no exception. Pine looks up to Marshal, viewing him as very wise, though is somewhat blinded by the light of such an independent dragon who has created this kind of life for himself to really acknowledge Marshal's many flaws.
70294358p.png Akari also hails from his homeland of the Starfall Isles, and having been the mate to a Tundra for much of her life, she understands the breed very well. Because creedkeeping leads him to working with the council extensively, Pine gets to spend plenty of time with Akari and finds her both wise and kind, always the dragon he prefers to work with if he needs to attend council meetings and negotiations.

Pine is an optimistic fella, always looking for the bright-side of things. He's the ultra pick-me-upper who is always there when a clan-mate needs a little extra support or motivation. He likes to think that he sees the world very realistically, but because of such he's always able to see an answer to a problem or the next step. He's a good buddy, that's always around when you need him.
