Sky looked at the assembled Tech dragons and sighed. "So, which one of you thought it would be a good idea to create a mechanical vampire?"
There were embarrassed looks all around. Finally, Captain raised a paw. "Well, it might have been me who got all the parts…"
"I might have helped put them together…" Bala injected.
Sky glowered. "And the vampire part?"
Kaysr, Venus and Rainbow looked at each other. "I take full responsibility," Kysr proclaimed. "Also, it's not just blood, there's quite a lot of coolant and strawberry jui-"
"I don't care about the bloody strawberries!"
"And who did the enchanting?" Firefly asked. He was particularly angry. The vampire had managed to track him by his bleeding face injury, and had managed to corner him in the arboratorium. If his brave familiar hadn't helped him… he shook himself. "Well?"
ArMa raised her hand. Huri giggled and started doodling again.
"Great. Now, who's gonna tell Cuttle that her entire Tech HQ has gone mad at the same time?"
"Actually, I had nothing to do with-"
"Alina, you had to have noticed something, and you didn't say a word-"
The snapper harrumphed. "Well, what do I know? I only study light, you know. How could I know what they use it for? I'm not responsible for that-"
A crash cut her off. The dragons went still, and turned slowly. Sky snarled quietly. They had a monster to catch.
Ten minutes later…
Breathing heavily, Firefly threw himself through the door. Sky slammed it shut behind him and bolted it. They were in the armory, and surrounded by exhausted (and very repentant) Tech dragons, some confused Guards, and one bored looking Copernicus.
Sky turned to him first. "There's nothing you can do?"
"No. It's too well armoured. Need a good point of attack, better weapons, maybe a trap."
"A pit with spikes, perhaps?" Firefly bit out.
"Would work."
"Argh." The vampire threw itself against the door.
Firestorm cleared his throat. "Well, this is the armory. And we have a training course. It's got lots of spicky pits. We could draw it there? Catching rogue science experiments is what we're here for, y'know? Actually not, but that's all we do these days."
Kaysr sighed in relief. "Thanks, mate."
