Strong and aggressive, Bismarck makes a great warrior and currently serves as one of the clan's guards. He's made it his goal to protect the Lanternlight Clan from any and all outside threats, and although the clan has had few such issues he still remains vigilant. The other guards, such as Swampgrass and Olympic, are far less likely to attack on sight, however, so their shifts cover the daytime hours and Bismarck is relegated to the night watch, when intruders are far more likely to be dangerous.

Bismarck's upbringing was unconventional at best. His mother was a disgraced noble who believed that her former subjects were out to kill her. She moved around often, teaching her children to survive and to always watch their backs, and at times she could be downright tyrannical. Thus, Bismarck grew up into a tough, self-sufficient dragon armed with as much knowledge of the world as his mother could impart upon him, and when she sent him off into the world it was with great confidence in his ability to survive.

On most nights, Bismarck is accompanied on duty by his familiar, Hood. An elegant, quick-witted centaur with a formidable aim, she was separated from her herd and, when she saw Bismarck, she opted to attack him, seeing him as a major threat to her safety. He quickly defeated her, albeit not before getting an arrow shot through his wing, and somehow the two managed to become friends, each impressed by the other's skill in combat. The two of them now patrol the Lanternlight Clan's lair together, exchanging witty banter as they keep watch over their sleeping clanmates.

Interestingly, Bismarck has an unexplained fondness for squid - they're his favorite animal, in fact - and keeps one named Eugen as a pet.
