Him and his unnamed sister are runaways from a water clan that he wanted nothing to do with. The two siblings fight more often and more viscously than any normal sibling pair. The only reason they are still together is because his sister refuses to abandon him. They have yet to pick out new names for themselves as is customary (but not required) for joining the Outlanders. His sister wished to use her name from her previous clan, but was refused as he did not want the reminder of the clan that her old name holds.
