Biography
Inverus amoris appears to the untrained eye just like a regular dragon. However, species in the genus Inverus are much more closely related to fungi than dragons. Different species of Inverus are separated by color, not by physical build like dragons are. The differentiation between colors indicates some other, less apparent, traits.
Inverus amoris, the red species, is native to the Starwood Strand, but since its eyes are always red, most dragons assume it was born within Plague territory. It is able to entrance dragons into believing that it is their true friend or lover, and it can convince most dragons to follow it anywhere after speaking to them for just a few hours.
All species of Inverus can be identified as different from normal dragons by their blank, faceted eyes and their slightly slurred speech caused by imperfect vocal structure. These differences are rarely noted by the average dragon because they can occur in real dragons, but experts in identifying Inverus are able to spot one with almost 100% accuracy after holding a conversation with it that lasts more than thirty minutes. Experts are more cautious, however, around specimens that they suspect to be I. amoris, since even knowing what the entrancing magic of I. amoris's voice does can't prevent its effects.
Inverus amoris is the least hungry and thus most stealthy species of Inverus, only needing to eat about once a month. When it does eat, however, the size of its meal can range from a Fae to an Imperial, and the remains of its victims are never found. If integrated into a clan, as Inverus usually aims to be, it seduces away a dragon of its choosing, usually a dragon it knows is about to be exalted and won't be missed, and once they're far away from the rest of the clan, Inverus turns on its victim, eating it bones and all within an hour. Entranced as they are, the dragon won't even fight back until it's too late. If not integrated into a clan, Inverus amoris prefers to befriend solo travelers and lure them away from the path before eating them whole.
