Biography
YunWei traveled for a long time in the Starwood strand looking for a home.
As he wandered restlessly, too tired to fly, he saw a shadow swiftly moving across the ground. Looking up he saw the most beautiful Imperial dragons he had ever seen. Her belly like the purest ice, her wings shining with a soft bluish white glow, and her body shimmering in the sun as she danced and played in the wind.
As he wondered at her beauty he noticed that he had caught her eye and noticed with surprise that she was not an arcane but a wind element dragon. He wanted to call out to her, but a wave of anxiety washed over him and he looked down back to the ground embarrassed.
A soft thud in front of him made him look up right into the piercing eyes of the windy beauty. She asked him calmly,
“What is your name, young dragon?”
He was startled into an answer, “I-I don’t have a name.” He winced at the stammer and looked back down embarrassed again, for no one had given him a name.
“You look like a YunWei to me.” The dragoness responded after a small pause. “My name is Ikiki.” She added.
“I like that name a lot, and yours is great too!” YunWei said, filled with happiness.
He wasn’t sure what to do next. He wanted to know where she came from but he didn’t want to bother her either.
“Are you without a lair? If so, you can come with me to my lair. I’m sure I can convince Queen Riku to let you in.“ she explained and added as an afterthought, “Our lair is the Focal Point.” She spoke sweetly and seemed intent on taking him back to her lair.
“But, why me?” He asked. “You don’t know anything about me, but you’d just take me home like that?” He was perplexed. Ever since he was a hatchling he’d been looking for a home. Now a beautiful goddess comes down from the sky and offers him a home. No one is as lucky as this.
“If you really must know,” she sighed deeply. “Our lair needs new blood. None of the breeding pairs in my clan are willing to part with their mates, but I don’t want to see my lair dissolve. I care for my mate Yuki. He gave me a home while I was wandering Sornieth. However, I have made up my mind to revive my clan, so if you come with me, you’ll get a home and a mate.”
YunWei blushed furiously. Of course he thought about settling down and finding a mate, but this felt like it was happening too fast.
“I’m not sure I’m ready to mate, especially if I’m taking the place of someone else.” He was not one to rock anyone’s boats. What if this Yuki didn’t want him around? Better to be alone than have to worry about another male dragon.
“Don’t worry. Queen Riku knows that if she wants to see her clan revived we need new blood. If Yuki does become hostile she’ll make sure he knows his place.” Ikiki explained.
“I’m still not sure.” He whispered quietly.
“I’ll only ask one more time, but I hope you’ll say yes.” Ikiki waited patiently for his decision.
He contemplated his options quickly. Continue wandering the star fall Isles alone and at the mercy of other wandering dragons, or follow a beautiful dragoness to her clan and become her mate.
“I’ll come with you, but give me some time to get used to things before you pair me up with you or anyone else.” He said with finality.
Ikiki flew up and did a flip in the air before coming back down. “Thank you so much!! I promise that you won’t regret your decision!” She flashed a goofy smile and danced around in a circle happily.
What did I just get myself into? YunWei thought wearily.
