Devane is a realistic pessimist. He accepts the facts of the world, but he looks to the somewhat darker side of these facts rather than keeping them neutral. "It doesn't matter whether the cup is half empty or half full -- it's going to have to be washed either way."

He's a bit apathetic, but he's passionate about the things that he really cares about, and isn't afraid to smack someone when they talk bad about the things he likes. He doesn't seem like the type of dragon who would talk much, considering how bored and sleepy he usually looks, but in reality, he can talk for hours about most things. He likes to make people laugh, especially Sureva, and is not above making a fool out of himself for a few giggles and some smiles.

Sureva and Devane like each other very, very much, although they're both too realistic to call it love just yet. They're more than happy to be mates, though.
