Biography
Gale's Thoughts: Jericho
Never in my entire life would I have expected Sargent to adopt a child. I didn't even know she liked children.
And then, one day when I came to visit The Ichor after its latest voyage... I'm suddenly tackled by an incredibly tiny spiral. Sargent just watched with an amused expression as I untangled myself.
Apparently the little firecracker was sitting in an abandoned nest, the shells of four other eggs surrounding it, but no other dragons in sight. Sargent informed me that such things are more commonplace in the Scarred Wasteland than anywhere else; the savagery of many clans means many pairs have their babies in secluded locations before returning to their homes. For the most part, only those with a safe clan to give birth in will give the late egg the extra time it may need to hatch.
But Jericho crawled his way out of his egg eventually, only to find himself alone.
He's still very young, only just entering adolescence, and I have yet to meet a hatchling who enjoys tricks and pranks as much as he does. He has absolutely no shame when it comes to grating on the nerves of others, and for a dragon whose wings and markings are so bright, he's remarkably good at vanishing without a trace so the ones who are cross with him cannot find him. He has a small, almost evil-sounding cackle that gives away his presence, though, so even when you can't see him, you know he's there.
He's started to integrate himself with the clan as a whole a bit more, leaving the comfort of the ship and poking around in The Withered Village. He seems particularly interested in Hotel Contraste, maybe because of all the dragons who go in and out on a daily basis. Aside from a few chance encounters, he's never spent any significant time with a dragon his own age, so he spends most of his time with the Twins (he also really likes Gazario, which came as a bit of a surprise to me). They're basically giant children themselves, so I shouldn't be too surprised, I guess.
I'm looking forward to seeing who Jericho grows up to be. He still tries to tackle me every time he sees me come up to The Ichor, but just as often I see him wrapped around the main mast of the ship, sleeping off his boundless young dragon energy. He's got an interesting cast of characters who have declared themselves his family, so I'm sure his crazy personality will only be enhanced by them.
