You would think that the higher minds of Arcane would be past old superstition. These are dragons of logic, reason, facts - no scholar in their right mind would pay heed to the old hatchmaid's tale of Coatl bearing dull plumage. To do so would be - is an insult to the Arcanist, the Observatory, huff, the entirety of the Isles, curse the lousy Ten and the tower they fell down from-

Hmph, well. If he can't get his research grant through the thick-headed, soundless goons that call themselves the Greater Academics Board, he has plenty of other options. It isn't difficult for someone of his talents to find gainful employment elsewhere - especially within, yes, the fouled sandpit that dares to touch the eastern border. The denizens of the Scarred Wasteland must have more pressing concerns than learning arithmetic (collecting germs, most likely, or licking the fetid scraps off of days-old bones), as the Coatl earns quite a respectable sum working for the elongated shack that passes for a resort around here.

Respectable by Plague standards, mind you. A novice apprentice living within the Astrolodome makes well over twice the amount, but there will be a time for that.

And then Macrosco will never have to disinfect his paycoin again.


Facts

• He was born as "Ash," but found the name both wholly uninspired and a bitter reminder of his appearance. He went through multiple names - mostly based upon scientific phenomena, chemicals, or great thinkers of old - before landing on Macrosco.
• Along with budgeting and balancing, Macrosco is the first to approach guests with delinquent accounts. While Tatters prefers to let nonpayment slide in favor of preserving "the guest experience," Macrosco has no such patience or pity for those who do not take care of their balances promptly.
• Macrosco and Howl, the hotel's supplier, often butt heads. Though Howl is the one who vets requests for things such as replacement towels, tiny shampoo bottles, bandages, acid-proof goggles, and kitchen needs, Macrosco dissects every item on the list. Surely we can source a cheaper alternative to the towels, yes? And why are steak knives on this list again? Where do they all keep disappearing to??
