Raleigh
The Oracle  The first thing one might notice about Raleigh (pronounced Rah-lay) is her smile. Spiral dragons in general tend to have incredibly contagious enthusiasm, but Raleigh is particularly gregarious, quick to laugh and welcoming of most any visitors. Where a typical fortune-teller's lair may normally be mysterious, inscrutable or even foreboding, hers seems more like an auntie's parlor despite her age, her glowing eyes beaming at you while she offers you a steaming cup of chrysanthemum tea. Surrounded by a faint haze of fragrant incense smoke, the shelves of crystal spheres around her faintly glow in rhythmic pulses, the colors flashing in patterns that reflect what she sees when she gazes off into the days ahead. AN ATTENTIVE AUGUR Raleigh originally followed her elder sister Moira to the Ferndale lair because she couldn't bear to be parted from her beloved sibling. Fortunately for everyone involved, she fit in immediately as if she were born there, finding she agreed with their views about approaching life from an artistic perspective, and she settled in comfortably as the resident oracle (and unofficial therapist). Unlike Matthias, who is more of a jack-of-all-trades magician, her abilities are all concentrated entirely in the field of prognostication, so she's definitely more of a specialist and stronger than him in that field. Thanks to her presence, the lair's magical power has been greatly bolstered (considering Matthias previously was the sole practitioner), and she's likely to become a core member once the next generation takes over. Her voice is notably alluring even for a dragon, and she seems less interested in the exact details of her predictions than she is offering advice for you to help deal with what she foretells. In fact, she often offers generalized counseling for troubles without seeing the future at all! QUICK FACTS Personality: Dragons who delve deep into magic tend to seem wiser beyond their years, and Raleigh is no exception. You wouldn't think she's one of the youngest of the Ferndales, judging from her behavior. She takes a very conscientious approach to her foresight - even if one may not be able to change the future, knowing what will happen can help one come to terms with it and soothe stress. Raleigh serves as equal parts oracle and therapist, helping others with the self-reflection necessary to find their own truths. As such, she tries to be a very optimistic dragon.
