shadow_2.png 		Beta has always been ambitious. And the Astral Oceans Clan, which saw people and goods from dozens of worlds pass through it every day, was the perfect place for an ambitious dragon. Everyone there wanted something, and if you had what they wanted, you could control them. Beta had a few good tools at her disposal. One was her fairy ancestry, which let her forge magical contracts neither party could break. Another was Shade, a trader of questionable ethics, and her personal mentor in the art of trickery. It wasn’t long before the young dragon had started building a significant power base.

When her growing reach started to threaten the clan’s precarious political balance, Beta made a more or less amiable split with her birth clan. As far as she was concerned, she’d outgrown it. Today, she has near-total control over a handful of clans’ territories, and connections and contracts that extend far beyond her domain. Beta fully expects to be ruling the world one day, but is well aware that she’s a fairly small player for now. She can bite her tongue and tolerate disrespect if she believes it will help her in the long run. She’s ruthless, but not heartless, and cares deeply about her trusted few.
