"If you could only see the beast you've made of me."
In the pearlescent light of the ever-glowing moon, a white wolf is gliding through the underbrush. She is as silent as a shadow as she moves, not a twig snaps underpaw, not a rustle of leaves against fur; not even the keen-eared rabbits, nor the easily startled deer seem to notice as she slips by. At another time, they might have found sharp teeth for these mistakes, but tonight she is not hunting for them. She is responding to a call.
A delicious silver note hangs on the breeze, a melody that has set her heart alight, being unravelled like a long thread from it's source, through the trees and into her den where it has ensnared her very being and coaxed her out into the night.
The sweet song is louder now and she breaks into a run, bursting out of the forest and splashing into a stream. She stops.
On a rock by the stream sits a dragon, as beautiful as the moonlight itself and seemingly surrounded by wolves from all over the Heartlands. Our she-wolf feels a howl of delight rising from her lungs. It was if their beloved moon itself had come down from the sky just to see them! She takes her place amongst the other wolves and by an unspoken cue, they throw their heads back and join in that sweet melody, their voices filling the night air with a song tinged in mania.
