Dragons of the Elysian Fields talk of a legend. Before there was the Elysian Fields, there was a large barren plain, barely distinguishable from the Izanagi's Expanse. Before there were traders, flowers, and lush lands of creatures, there were machines, steel and metal tools. There was an empire, dragons say, comparable to the Citadel, bigger even, powered by steel and machinery the same way the Citadel is powered by fire. Dragons also say this empire gradually drowned under the sands and rocks it was built upon, slowly fading into the vestiges of time, and the fields eventually grew over its grave. Sometimes, traces of the old empire can be found in the fields, be it a small branded metal scrap or a loose rusty screw.

But did this empire really exist, or was it just a subject in idle dragons' chatter? And if it did exist, why did it vanish without a reason?
