"You cannot pack a wound when it still boils and festers. One must dig down to its core and pull from it the seed of infection. Only then will the wound seal and cease to pain forevermore."

When regarding Plaguebringer, many forget that her infection reaches far deeper than the edges of the Scarred Wasteland and the unwary clan may fall victim to the veins of opportunistic ruin. Unfortunately, disease can work slowly and maliciously into the very core of its hosts before ever baring its fangs. Any who had seen the fall of Kitania's born clan could bear witness to the insidious cunning the disease held.

Within the ruins of the Lightweaver's domain, a clan was affronted by hatchlings born with red eyes and defects that marred their beautiful feathers and scales and sent many to their exaltation before their time. Those who survived were seen as the disease's fangs, though Kitania knows now that she and the others were merely the festering wound left in the wake of it. Even still, the oddly placed Plaguelings were sequestered from the others within the ruins of a beautiful marble structure that her clan had used as a temple dedicated to their deity.

Within isolation, none of the little Plaguelings could see the rot that had begun to spring forth from within their clanmates. They sang the hymns and endured the lessons and procedures that would keep their rot from spreading out and consuming them. In their hearts, they believed that if they kept the plague sealed away the curse would not infect the rest, but wishful thinking was always their undoing. The weakest fell first, as was the right of the strong to stand at the very end and watch all others fall beneath them. A hatchling is the weakest by right, only given their chance at life by the strongest. The disease did not start nor end with them.

As the mutations spread within the clan and more and more fell to it, fear began to turn to turmoil within the temple and the rage was soon turned upon the young dragons who lived there.

Not much more can be shared of Kitania's past, for she refuses to disclose information of it to this day, but what the Laboratory can note to the public records is that the old clan no longer exists. All attempts to explore the former area claimed to have been home to a large and well established clan turns up nothing more than relics of a long-forgotten past and layers of sand and sediment devoid of life. Kitania left it this way on her own, having given in to the nature of her curse in favor of a new sort of life afforded her by her new Matron. Though she retains the beautiful voice and grace she was trained for within the temple, though she still finds the presence of marble and light comforting, her heart remains with the Plaguebringer.

It should also be noted that Kitania's mutations have likely followed alongside the mindset she had at the time the pestilence was making its way through her. She reports having felt as though in a daze most of the time, unseen and drifting even before the ones who were assigned to watch her. Though she did not fight the rituals that should have kept the curse at bay, she claims to have been able to feel it shifting inside of her for the majority of her youth and it would often distract her from the terror and desperation within her clan until she was completely apart from it. She cautions that she still feels this way at times, though time and experience has allowed her to refine the methods of holding onto herself and restraining the curse within her. Either way, the Laboratory keeps files (REDACTED) and (REDACTED) in the case of a future outbreak.
