Stormshriek Sovereign King Iker Oinaztargi Arduragabe

Iker is the result of a one-time romantic rendezvous between his father, Peio, and his mother, Bakarne, who stole away to the Wispwillow Grove and settled in the Heartsung nests, where he and his two sisters were born. As soon as they were hatched, the family migrated back to the Reedsong Clan. Because his father was very close with King Eguzki, and because he knew that the monarchy had yet to name an heir, upon arrival he immediately offered Iker, his first and only son, up to the monarchy as their heir.

As this situation had never occurred before, the monarchy debated heatedly. The King had always wanted one of his own offspring to be an heir, however the Queen was very critical of her own children, and oftentimes encouraged them to serve the deities rather than stay and rule the Clan. This frustrated the King, who always worried about what would happen to the throne if there was no heir and something had happened to them. To him, it seemed that an heir of their own seemed as if it would never happen, and the next best thing would be to take in an outsider.

After two long nights, the two made a compromise: they would accept Iker as the first heir to the throne, however if they decided that one of their future offspring was better fit to rule, they would push Iker down to second-in-line and make their child the first heir. This satisfied the Queen, who was less than willing to allow a stranger to succeed them, and it comforted the King, who believed that they would never produce a son or daughter that the Queen would deem worthy to rule.

They presented this compromise to Peio and Bakarne, who promptly accepted. Thus, just as summer turned to autumn, Iker was announced the first heir of the monarchy. A festival and parade followed, celebrating the newborn's arrival.

As the heir, Iker was to be by the monarchs' sides at all times, learning from their wisdom and experiences. From a young age he was taught how to gather insects and fish, how to behave appropriately around his superiors and his subordinates, and how to settle disputes between Clan members. His training and experience differed greatly from the training and experience of his sisters and most of the other hatchlings, who were training to become mercenaries for other Clans and Deities. Unfortunately for the heir, this meant that he was oftentimes a very lonely young boy.

As Iker grew into adolescence, changes in both his appearance and his behavior became apparent. The freckles on his wings that were inherited from his father faded into the rich, shimmering wings of his mother, and gems began to appear through his feathers. Iker also became more rebellious, however he was never open about it. In front of the monarchs, he seemed like a perfectly well-behaved young gentleman, which was odd for males his age. However, in the dead of night he would often sneak away from the slumbering monarchs and rendezvous with various female mercenaries who had yet to leave for their new Clans.

However, a high-profile figure like Iker had a hard time keeping the whispers and gossip at bay, and soon enough word reached the monarchy that their heir had been misbehaving. At first, their measures were simple. Iker's curfew was shortened, and anytime he wanted to leave past curfew he was to awaken an escort. Then, as Iker's rebellious behavior persisted, the restrictions became harsher. After a while, he wasn't allowed to speak to any females during the daytime or nighttime, he was to be escorted around the territory at all times, and there would always be at least two guards vigilantly watching him while he slept after curfew. However, somehow Iker always managed to get away.

The monarchy's last resort was the introduction of a surprise heiress, who was welcomed as a treasured gift from a passing merchant clan. Heiress Nikole's arrival was celebrated with a parade, and she appeared as a beautiful princess adorned with stunning silks, glimmering jewelry, and dark flowers. Although it had been arranged between the merchant clan and the monarchy that she would be taken in as the heiress soon after Iker was announced heir, they had held off her official arrival until his adolescence. Until then, they had been conditioning her to become a worthy monarch, and upon her introduction to the clan, she was expected to curb Iker's deviant behavior.

Immediately, it was obvious that Iker was struck with awe. Since Nikole was the only female he was allowed to interact with, he was constantly seen attempting to impress her, even if she was already destined to be his mate. However, it slowly became apparent that even the Heiress' beauty wasn't enough for the flirtatious Iker. Although she was arguably the most beautiful in the clan, Iker grew bored with interacting solely with her, preferring the excitement of sneaking out and meeting up with females he knew he shouldn't be seeing. Soon enough, he was often seen rendezvousing with various female mercenaries late at night, just like before.

For the Queen, that was the last straw. The Heiress had been her last hope, but apparently even she wasn't good enough for the unruly Heir. So, as winter changed to spring, she did what nobody in the clan ever thought she would do in her lifetime: she named one of her offspring from her newest clutch the first heir of the monarchy. Thus, the Heir Iker was demoted to being the Prince Iker, the second-in-line to the throne.

The King, the clan, and especially the Prince, were dumbstruck. Although he retained his position of royalty, the sudden loss of the throne and of his beautiful fiancée left Iker in a dark fury. For three and a half months after the announcement of the new Heir, the fallen Prince gathered his most trusted followers and planned a coup to dethrone and expel the monarchy and their Heir. Amongst his followers was Nikole, who wished to seize power alongside her former fiancé. However, at the beginning of summer, the plan was uncovered and revealed to the monarchy by a traitor to Iker's cause, and he, along with Nikole and the rest of his followers, were expelled from the Reedsong Clan.

Afterwards, Iker and his followers migrated to the Twisting Crescendo, where he established his own territory. Upon a large celebration signifying his marriage to Nikole, he crowned himself Sovereign King, and she crowned herself Sovereign Queen. Thus, a new monarchy was founded over the new Stormshriek Clan.
