Kirby met Morass while on a birdwatching tour. The "educational birdwatching tour" that the two of them had signed up for turned out to be quite the mess. A poorly organized tour guide had them walking in circles and did not seem to know much about the local ecosystem. As Morass had spent the majority of his youth in that forest, he was quick to point out any mistakes the guide made. Kirby found it hilarious as the arguments between Morass and the tour guide grew more heated.

Eventually, the guide grew so frustrated that he just flew off, leaving the small group in the forest alone. The majority of the dragons took that as their cue to go home, but Kirby was curious about the young bogsneak that had caused all the trouble. He struck up a conversation with the very embarrassed Morass and discovered that they had a lot in common. It turned out that the only reason Morass was even on that tour was to meet other dragons. The two of them talked at length about a variety of animal-related subjects while they continued their forest trek.

Nowadays Kirby works as the co-owner and manager of Morass's pet shop. Although he technically owns half of the store, he prefers to work the register and be the face of the establishment. While Kirby helps customers up front, Morass fills paper work and makes sure the animals are well taken care of. Occasionally, a customer will have a question that Kirby cannot answer and he will have to drag Morass out of hiding.
