Hyacinth

Born in the abiding boneyard, Hyacinth left his clan at a young age. He had always been the solitary type, who did not enjoy the company of his fellow dragons. The greatest source of enjoyment for him came from sitting with his own emotions. As such, he isn't a big communicator and enjoys roaming. In time, as he only had himself for company over a period of many years, his emotions started to infuse into the blossoms that cover his body.

One faithful day, he had an unfortunate encounter with a Beastclans warrior. They engaged in a brutal battle of claws and teeth. Suddenly, the enemy warrior dropped to the floor trapped in a violent seizure. Hyacinth stood over his opponent, staring in disbelief. Among the foam slowly coming out of its mouth, were petals from the blossoms that had been torn from Hyacinth's body. Without stopping to think about it, Hyacinth took this opportunity to escape the danger as fast as he could. As well as an introvert, he considered himself a pacifist.
Familiar-3.png Later in his travels, on a wonderful plague-sun filled day, Hyacinth found himself enjoying one of his classic strolls. Suddenly, a scream. In the distance, he saw another Gaoler laying on the floor, writhing in pain. In an act quite unusual for him, he rushed over to help the frankly stunning female.

Tell me a joke...

- Are you allright?! What happened?
- (...)
- Speak to me, please!
Hyacinth found himself begging to be spoken to, something he hadn't imagined in his whole entire life.
- I... I have been sick for a long time...
Muttered the female. Her eyes looked dull, like her soul was nearly ready to cross over.
- How can I help?
- Tell me... A joke...
(...)
A joke?!?!? How could she be thinking about jokes at this time?? In his heightened state of arousal, Hyacinth could think of no better than to follow the suffering female's instructions.
- OK, OK... Uh...
- HURRY UP! Can't you tell I'm dying over here?
- AAAAAHHHH OKAAY! So there are two tomatoes sitting in The Great Furnace, and one says to the other... 'It's kinda hot around these parts, huh?' and the other tomato screams 'AAAHH! A talking tomato!!'
He saw a chuckle escape the female's lips.
- ... one more, please...
- Ehh... why is it easy to tell how much a dragon weighs? (...) They always have scales!
There was an awkward pause. The female's smile widened.
Next, she tore one of her blossoms off her fur and swallowed it. Hyacinth's jaw dropped in shock. The shine returned to her eyes in a matter of seconds, as she stopped writhing. Within minutes, she was sitting up straight and rearranging her mane and tail.
- What are you staring at??
- B-b-ut... Just a moment ago... and you were dying... a-a-nd now you're just sitting there... like no-no-nothing just happened?!
Hyacinth could barely get the words out.

- I guess I should explain. My blossoms have medicinal properties, but these properties are entirely dependent on how I feel at any given time. When I feel happy, for example, they're a powerful medicine. But through all the physical pain that I was feeling, I was unable to find my joy so that I could use my own blossoms to cure myself.
- So the jokes...
- Yes, exactly. You arrived just at the right time. If I had been by myself for even a little longer, I probably wouldn't have made it. So, thank you. I'm Rose, by the way.
- ... Hyacinth.
Another awkward silence.
- Rose... I'm just remembering something that happened to me some time ago...
Hyacinth described his encounter with the Beastclans warrior. Rose's eyes widened as she listened.
- Well... When I'm stressed, my blossoms cause seizures. Could it be, that yours do too??
- Uh... Well... I guess...
Hyacinth was in disbelief. It definitely made sense. Quickly, Rose plucked a blossom off Hyacinth's pelt and swallowed it.
- OI! What did you do that for?!
- Scientific method. Disbelief causes temporary blindness. And... From what I can see... Or what I can't see right now... Your blossoms work just like mine.
Rose blinked several times, her pupils completely dilated, until the effects of Hyacinth's blossom wore off.

The two dragons spent the following few hours talking about the strange properties that their blossoms shared. Hyacinth learnt the following about his blossoms:
Happiness = medicinal
Stress = seizures
Anger = fever
Sadness = fatigue
Motivation and high energy = similar to caffeine
Relaxation = sedative
Disbelief = temporary blindness
Pure, ublrindled joy = hair growth
Desperation = hair loss
In this time, Hyacinth found himself enjoying the company of another dragon for the first time in... forever. The feeling was reciprocal, so the two decided to continue their travels together.

-By the way... We are dragons, and we don't have scales. How can we tell how much we weigh?
