From the moment Basil opened their many eyes, they had a goal. They had to travel the world and find all the strange eyes of Sornieth. Basil spent a little time in the Nature flight where they were born, but set off to the Floating Island of Clan Driftisle to prepare for a long journey.

Basil would love to meet other dragons with strange eyes like them, and wants to write a book about the eyes of Sornieth and how each element affects them.

Clan Mavenlark was an excellent first choice for Basil's travels. You couldn't walk a foot in the overpopulated city without knocking into a scholar of some kind. And most importantly - the variety of eyes! Eyes that speckled the backsides of dergs as easily as scales would! Eyes that homed little slits in their center! Bright eyes! Dim eyes! This was the very reason why she got into this field.

She and a particularly haughty spiral fell into a conversation given their shared multi-gaze status, but when he suggested that they research the likelihood of a nest they laid together being given their eyes, she quickly left Mavenlark. - hyzenthlaay, 452562

Basil swore that she'd avoid having babies in her travels, but after being stuck back in Clan Driftisle, she changed her mind. A flirty Wildclaw just couldn't stay away from her, and she eventually gave in to his flirting. She told herself it was just an experiment in rare eyes, like that spiral had told her, and found herself with a nest of three.

After a nest of disappointing eyes, Basil decided that it was time to hit the road again. Fidele, however, wasn't too pleased with her leaving him with the kids, but the stir-crazy researcher had to move on.

She found herself in a new clan, known as Crow Callers. Another dragon with multiple eyes was in that clan, and was interested in Basil. Basil didn't know how to feel about the Mirror at first, but gradually decided to become friends with him, and that friendship eventually blossomed into love. She decided to think of it as just an experiment again - she wondered if the Spiral she met in her old clan was right.

However, Basil and Bijoux soon no longer felt the same way about each other, and Basil decided to head off again.
