"Believe me, if I could rig a deck of cards with no hands, I'd be dealing for kings."

A throw of the dice, a shuffling of cards, or the flip of a coin; if the game deals with chance, then Absilite deals with the game. Though the nature of a gambler suggests trickery and foul play, for him, the fun of the game is in the uncertainty of the outcome, and efforts made to rig the game one way or another are an inexcusable insult to the spirit of chance. His unrelenting honesty is a double edged sword however; how unsatisfying it must be for the loser to have nothing to blame but simple bad luck.

Absilite knows there are certainly stories more dramatic than his own. With his mastery of the game table, he could have passed as the single honest soul that escaped a den of thieves, or deposed royalty made to regain his fortune if the fates decided he deserved it, or even a forward scout for a less than savory group of dragons, looking to make their home among the supremely gullible. The truth of the matter was that he simply enjoyed games of chance.

There was nothing quite like seeing the look on a hatchling's face as they realized they had correctly guessed the outcome of a coin flip (and thus, could keep the coin), or hearing the foul words spit out by an indomitable warrior when faced with the reality that, out of all of their foes, a pair of dice could claim to have taken the greatest victory over them. For just a moment, as the dice are cast and the card is drawn, all are equal; a single momentary lapse in luck could send the king of the table to the lowest reaches and raise the underdog to heights unheard of in the small reflection of the universe the players created with each game. Nothing, however, could be left to chance if there were no players present to take the risk.

Although Absilite will swear up and down that stakes are not necessary, it does not take a keen eye to see that they do manage to make things just that much more interesting. What better place to convince people to risk parting with their money than a place where they had already planned to in the first place? There was even a chance that his patrons could walk away with more than they came with! The most important word of that sentiment being 'chance'.

Despite a policy of honesty, the other merchants were baffled to find Absilite making a profit. As much as his games relied on chance, there were certainly strategies one could employ to lessen the blow of a bad draw, and by the Eleven did his patrons employ them poorly when they were not alone at the table. Single person games could be a win or a loss with equal odds, but games in which there were multiple players nearly always played out in his favor. It was the single bit of dishonesty he allowed himself, watching the players attempt to sabotage each other, thereby ruining their own odds, all in the effort to sway the outcome of a game that could not be swayed; it seemed too easy to simply explain to the player that there was only one thing keeping them from their profit, and it wasn't the dragon next to them.

Absilite has also found himself a beloved hatchling-sitter. Teaching the little ones simple games, no stakes allowed of course, was easily some of the most consistent fun he's ever had access to. He hopes that they remember him when they find themselves in a spot of bad luck and understand that their fortune could change with the wind in an instant. Such is the way of the game, after all.
