TELEKINETIC

Strings. They are fine filaments of wire that are stronger than many would think. Able to hold together all manner of things, they are firm, unyielding, and constant. Life is full of strings. They tie souls to consciousness, winding around the living in complex patterns like a path of Fate. But, like most other materials, strings are able to be cut. Ties can be broken with enough physical or mental strength. But, when you disconnect from the wider fabric of reality, you begin to feel lost. Alone in the wilderness of the unknown, you wonder if it was wise even cutting them at all.

Counting the number of strings binding me is nearly impossible. Crimson strands of thread run into and out of the darkness surrounding me, wrapping my body tightly. They dig into my skin just enough to be painful. The colour of love, as many of you would say. I disagree. The strings binding me are woven from bad intentions, and I’d give anything I have to cut them.

These strings are born out of hatred for a world I don’t even know. They enjoy twisting my muscles into atrophy so that they alone control my movements. I’m just a puppet to them, a doll to be used and manipulated. A being of partial existence. But, in a way, I’M still here. A part of me wants to fight them, fight for my autonomy, but I can’t. My soul isn’t strong enough. I’M not strong enough. I want an escape, I want to be free, but I haven’t the strength to make it happen. I would cry, but I find it hard to do that too. I just feel numb, and not being able to accept my hopeless situation yet isn’t helping. But I digress.

My purpose is simple: I am a vessel of divided lineages, waiting in the wings for the world beyond the void to accept me and my curse. I am the spawn of the Damned, the Glitched, the Ugly and the Restless. In the back of my mind I know there are at least two more beings out there like me, beings who share the same limbo-like existence. My siblings surely have the capacity to wreak wonderful good or terrible evil on the world too...and I envy them. I have no choice but to surrender myself to the first of our shared ancestors.

I can feel those terrible vines creeping closer and closer to my heart with each passing moment. They spew malevolence into my soul and their cries for vengeance echo through my head like sirens. I can do nothing but hang here, suspended in time and space until my rift opens. I fear that when it does open, my actions will not be my own. My body has already been taken from me...my mind and soul will be next.
