Babysits/godfather to Cnida. If he's around, chances are she'll be nearby.
Yes, Proteus can see and talk to the dead. Yes, he will do seances if he's not too busy. Just ask politely.
Often performs rituals, occult or otherwise. Don't enter his room if the blue warning light is on.
Dabbles in deep-sea marine biology, his heritage proving a boon for fieldwork.
Moonlights as a psychopomp.
Accidentally summoned a Goetiaborn Prince, leading to the establishment of a mutually beneficial arrangement
Note: Oh, come on! First a chest with teeth that'll try to take your hand off when you least expect it, then a possessed violin that plays nothing but mournful tunes, and now a tentacle lion that tracks water everywhere?! Proteus, if you're going to have supernatural and eldritch creatures as your familiars, at least teach them some manners! – Zoroark
This dragon is a member the Water flight subspecies Benthic and meets the specific genetic and coloration requirements set forth by the flight and/or creator.
Benthic dragons are inhabitants of the deepest reaches of the Leviathan Trench. Even to their clans they may be strangers, surfacing only rarely from the depths. Within their preferred environs, they are the most fearsome of predators. They blend in with the unlit black of the sea, using their spines as lures to draw in unwary prey. Many fish, deep-sea octoflyers, and other creatures have chased what they thought to be a glowing worm and bitten down only to find that they have snagged the tail-tip of the dragon who now coils around them, squeezing away their life.
Benthic dragons live amidst the darkest of the Tidelord's prophecies, those so burdened and heavy with disastrous or malevolent portent that they do not float up from the Spiral Keep, but sink below. Benthic dragons listen to these whispering oracles, absorb their predictions, and whisper back. Where Benthic dragons go, death and misfortune follow, and to hear their sibilant murmurs is to court madness.
