While battle and fighting isn't usually something that the Lapidians partake in, it is a necessary fact of life that the world is in turmoil somewhere and conflict will arise. Even the care-free clan of the Lapidia knows that training guards is vital to the survival of the clan. Melichrysos is the diety that watches over the clan and offers his divine guidance to those in the guard as they try their best to assure that the Lapidians will always be safe under their watchful eyes. To the Lapidians, Melichrysos is known as the spirit of a powerful and just warlord that led armies in valiant battles across the land in the hopes of finding glory, fame, in fortune. In life, Melichrysos conquested across all of Sorneith with a large war-clan to fight in many battles against the Beastclans and accumulate riches for his clan that the wealthiest in this age could only dream of. However, even with all of the conquesting, Melichrysos was not blood-thirsty or barbaric. He rathered imprison or relocate defenseless adversaries rather than kill them, and often released non-combatants in good faith. After battles, he would order his clan to bury and honor fallen foes rather than leave them to rot in the open. Melichrysos died as he lived in his old life, falling to an enemy in his final battle. He lived to watch his clan win that day, before his eyes slipped closed peacefully and he traveled to his rebirth in the realm of spirits and dieties, where he would be destined to guide others down the path he chose in his own life. Though much of his history has been forgotten on Sorneith, the Lapidian priests found old texts about Melichrysos in abandoned libraries, while others have claimed to have seen visions of him guiding the Lapidian guard in their training. Today, many Lapidian guards, and even hunters, pray to the spirit of Melichrysos for glory, luck, and fortune if they were to encounter a battle, and for his guidance on how they can improve themselves. Many soldiers keep a talisman fashioned after the deity on them for good luck and hope that if they were to fall in battle, Melichrysos would guide their fallen soul to a place of glory and happiness in the after life if they fought valiantly. In the shrine, Melichrysos has a statue next to that of Caelestibus, the deity of luck and adventure, as the Lapidians believe the two may cross paths when trying to guide Lapidians to their fate, even if such a notion has never been confirmed by the priests. Melichrysos' statue is painted a brilliant gold and shows him coiling around a great and impressive sword while donning on stunning armor and brilliant fiery warpaint. Many talismans of the spirit are moddeled after this beloved statue. |
