The battled had seemed to go on forever. Therion was utterly exhausted, but had to keep going. If he let the line fall, he would never be forgiven. His father was not one to excuse failure. Determined to fight to the last, Therion ignored the calls for retreat from his men. Though he was outnumbered, he would rather die here than face his father's scorn. Therefore, it was almost a relief when the claws from one of his foes took him down. The last thing he remembered was the splash of cold water and watching his blood mix with the river's depths. Until he came back to consciousness... which he wasn't expecting. Therion was shocked first by the fact that he was alive, and then shocked further when he realized who had saved him and how. The spiral had been saved from drowning by a water nymph. She had watched him defending her home as well as his, and had taken pity on him. Though Therion's wings had been shredded by his enemies, she fixed him as best as she could using a mixture of her own blood and red algae to form membranes between the vanes. The yellow lines are the permanent mark of a spell that was designed to help keep his wings and the rest of his body together and functioning as a whole. Therion realized that the nymph had not only given him new wings, she had actually handed him a way out. When he realized that his family would assume his body had been taken by the river, the dragon also realized he could be free. It was time to find a place out from under his father's control and a new life of his own. |
design notes:
-a little bit sickly looking, rather thin
-he wears braces for his arms and legs
-wing membranes are translucent
-his tert (the yellow lines) are magic, so like... sort of a subtle pulse? to them. ill figure out how to draw it later.
