Born Alisa Bravaldie to Alacreon and Gensorea Bravaldie, Alisa lived an ordinary life in the capital city of Orianta, Valtair, until the king and his family were assassinated and a cult leader claiming herself as a goddess installed herself on the throne. Her parents were politically active and were among the founding members of the Veric Order, named after the Aldovere royal line, who sought to end the rule of the false goddess Creanisa.

The Order was still young, and they were all risking their lives in their defiance of the queen, who had been shown to not shy away from brutality. They needed a figurehead; someone who could rally others in support of their cause, someone who could represent the brighter future they yearned for. Someone who could be the next monarch Orianta deserved.

They needed an Aldovere. And the deities seemed to answer their pleas when Princess Serenophia Aldovere turned up on their doorstep. She was the answer to all of their desperate questions, she was a shining light in the bleak uncertainty of their future, she was the future queen they had been looking for, she was -

- dying. She was dying. Creanisa had, in the process of murdering the girl's entire family, dealt her a fatal blow. Serenophia died days after a group of palace servants brought her to the Order, and their hopes nearly died with her, if not for one thing:

Alisa Bravaldie looked an awful lot like Serenophia Aldovere.

They cremated the princess and buried her ashes in an unmarked grave. Alacreon and Gensorea Bravaldie were granted a generous stipend and countryside estate which they departed to so as to not arouse suspicion. Alisa was very gently taken aside and informed of her new destiny.

Years later, Queen Serenophia Aldovere emerged, the Veric Order behind her, poised to wage war to retake her throne. And if her eyes were more slanted, her face longer, her nose wider than remembered, well, kids changed so fast, didn't they? Best not to look a gift horse in the mouth.

P E R S O N A L I T Y

Ever since she was a child, the Veric Order has done their best to shape her into a proper royal and queen. Serenophia is graceful, eloquent, and thoroughly educated on history, diplomacy, and war. She is also naturally kind, loyal, and a diligent worker. Luckily for the rebellion, she wields Light magic like the true Aldoveres once did, and she is a powerful mage. However, her way of life has also been damaging, leaving her with identity struggles as she must constantly force herself to fit the mould of a queen. She is obedient to a fault, cripplingly anxious, a stringent perfectionist, and terrified of failure and discovery.

She works to overcome her primary issues by attempting to find a purpose unrelated to the Order. To do this, she tries to find her true family, gaining an insight into what her life could have been if only she was not born with the face of a princess, as she was always enchanated by the mundane and ordinary due to how unattainable they were. Upon finding her parents living in the countryside, along with two siblings she never got to know, Serenophia is forced to come to terms with her lot in life and accept her path, moving on from her dreams of a life as Alisa Bravaldie.

K E Y R E L A T I O N S H I P S

Talyna Wirenta: a loyal daughter of the cult turned defector and capable rebel soldier. Serenophia and Talyna got off to a bad start as Serenophia's instilled obedience clashed with Talyna's tendency towards mistrust and critiquing of authority, but over time, the two became close friends and then later more than friends. Seren eventually comes to trust her enough to confess the secret of her true identity. Talyna helped Seren work through her identity crisis and encouraged her to think for herself more and develop herself beyond the Order.

Torfin Azarith: a regular citizen and Valtair resident who joined the Veric Order for vengeance after his parents were killed in a protest against Creanisa. Torfin became Serenophia's closest friend in the Order as they were of essentially the same age. He is her closest confidant and holds all of her secrets, acting as an integral pillar of support, both emotionally and practically as Torfin is incredibly intelligent, excelling in the lessons the two of them shared (at Seren's request to the Order officials).

Gensorea and Alacreon Bravaldie: the true parents of 'Serenophia Aldovere', sent away by the Order so no one became suspicious of their claims. Due to their departure when Seren was young, she has little memories of them. The few snippets she does recall showcase a normal, happy, carefree life, which she clings to as a twisted form of emotional support to get her through difficult times. Seren romanticises the dream life she could've had with her parents, an illusion that is shattered when she finally finds and visits them for the first time. She struggles with sorting out how she feels towards her parents, as she feels a mix of longing, love, anger, and betrayal.

Creanisa: the so-called Twelfth Deity, the Bloodwringer, and her enemy. Despite this, the two of them are foils to each other, both pretending to be someone or something they aren't. When Serenophia ends up in Creanisa's captivity in an attempt to use Serenophia's 'Aldovere' blood to break the ancient Anreq curse that is killing the land, the two of them unwittingly begin to bond and understand each other. Seren cannot help but be acutely aware of the similarities between them, and being faced with this helps her continue along the journey of self-discovery and accepting but not being controlled by the past.

M I S C E L L A N E O U S

Her resentment at being forced to be someone she isn't for all her life means that she enjoys spiting that by acting as un-royal as possible when in private. She purposefully ditches all of her manners, screws up her posture, wears casual clothes and in general adopts a casual and carefree style, and tries to speak with minimal fuss and fancy words. If she acts like this around someone, it is because she truly feels comfortable around them and trusts them, as otherwise she would be afraid they would scold her for not keeping up the act.

Her least favourite colour is purple, mostly for its royal connotations and the bitterness she has towards that kind of stuff. Her favourite colour is yellow for the light and happiness it represents. She loves being outside, with nature, and in the sun. Her favourite hobbies include gardening and cooking, and she finds them both relaxing and therapeutic. Her room is filled with plants. She hates formal dancing despite her talent and training due to how stiff it is, but likes dancing when it's expressive and just freely moving to music. She struggles to sit still and copes with this by fiddling with any jewelry on her person, one of the only habits they could never quite train out of her.
