Biography
As far as anyone knows, Tiki is a unique creature. She was originally an antique wooden toy placed in her brothers' nest before they were born to keep their eggs company, but when it came time for them to hatch she somehow gained life as well.
While she's now generally dragon-sized, she's still made of wood and as such has a limited range of motion, albeit more extensive than when she was a toy. Her gait is stiff and unnatural and she lacks the flexibility necessary for many mundane things, like twisting her torso around to look at something behind her or handling small objects with ease. Her body is also too unwieldy for flight, but if there's a cooperative wind she can glide short distances.
She isn't bothered by her physical limitations, though. To her, life is a wondrous experience and it simply doesn't occur to her to dwell on things she can’t do instead of enjoying what she can. Her two brothers also help her in a thousand tiny ways that none of the three are likely fully aware of, because to them it’s a normal part of life. Her elder brother Fluff Bucket regularly applies a coat of oil to her surface to prevent her from developing cracks or becoming too stiff, and her baby brother Color Mash helps her get into costumes when they dress up for their games and braids the flower chains she often wears.
She spends a great deal of time playing with her younger brother, going on imaginary adventures with the hatchling. On any given day they might be explorers lost in the wilderness, pirates terrorizing the high seas, or a gallant hero and his noble cerdae companion on a quest to save the world. They’re always well equipped for their adventures, mostly thanks to all the toys Fluff Bucket makes for them, but anything they don’t have on hand is easily supplied by their imaginations.
When the pair aren’t absorbed in a specific scenario they still have fun dressing up in sometimes outlandish outfits. Tiki regularly wanders around draped in ribbons and flower chains because Color Mash likes decorating her with them so much and she enjoys making him happy. The flowers also serve as their “rations” while adventuring, and though she doesn’t actually eat she still pretends to during their games.
Tiki’s name actually came about from a misunderstanding when her younger brother was just learning to talk. At that point the adults of the clan were still trying to figure out what to make of her and Color Mash overheard one of them refer to her as an “antique” and thought it was her name, but since he couldn’t pronounce the word he shortened it to “Tiki” instead. His sister didn’t mind so the name soon stuck.
As a consequence of originally being a toy Tiki doesn’t have a physical sex, but Fluff Bucket mentioned her features more closely resemble a female rather than a male and she’s satisfied with going by those pronouns. She honestly doesn’t have a firm grasp of the concept of gender so she’s not offended if others refer to her as she, he, they, it, or anything else, but she also has difficulty recognizing others’ genders. It’s not uncommon for her to unintentionally use the wrong pronouns for individuals, and while she doesn’t understand why it matters to most others she does her best to respect their wishes and remember their preferences in the future if corrected. She doesn’t always succeed in her efforts, though.
