Previously on The Nameless Assassins....
Ginger flew like mad, but the pack of Assassins tailing him were gradually gaining on him. He made it over the Tangled Wood and was almost all the way across the Sea of a Thousand Currents before he felt talons rip into his flank. Adelina grinned wickedly, certain of her victory and Ginger's heart sank in despair as he realized there would be no escaping this time.....
But then, out of nowhere, the hind foot of a Wildclaw collided with Adelina's face, forcing the grin from her maw as she released her grip on Ginger with a shriek. A female Nocturne lifted the exhausted Banescale higher into the air and carried him to the safety of her clan's territory in the Windswept Plateau. As Ginger faded into unconsciousness, he heard the Nocturne promise him that he would be safe, no matter what....

Banescales weren't known for their speed on the ground, they were known for their astounding flight speed.
And right now, that was exactly what Ginger needed to depend on.
Everything he built collapsed like a house of cards when that Pearlcatcher waltzed in with a small army of recruits like she owned the place. Somehow she'd managed to sneak around, convincing each of his greatest warriors (and Rehrig) that she'd do much better with the crown on her head.
He was ready, of course. Someone like him could sniff out things like that as if it was second nature.
But he wasn't ready enough.
It felt like it went on into infinity, but he could see the last of the Sea of a Thousand Currents at last. If he could just make it over the border, maybe he'd stand a chance--
"Gotcha!"
Ginger felt the talons dig in deep, hearing the triumphant voice of the vengeful crow in his ear. Dammit.
He was done for. The Banescale could only watch as Adelina struck blow after blow. This was his end, wasn't it? It was fun while it lasted. He could hear the waves crashing against the shores, the battle cries of a thousand dragons...
one of those cries wasn't a Nameless Assassin.
Almost as suddenly as he'd been caught, he could hear the screech of an infuriated Wildclaw, watching as they kicked the vengeful crow in the face, prompting a shocked cry from the Pearlcatcher.
"AGH-! Damn you, you lowly-"
"YOU SHUT YOUR TRAP, PRINCESS!!"
That was obviously his savior.
As Ginger fell, he could see the patrol of dragons clearly--or as clear as you could get when you've been gravely injured; two Wildclaws, one pitch black and more insect than dragon, a Spiral, a Fae, and a Nocturne, the latter of which was in a nosedive directly towards him oH CRAP--
He braced himself for impact, but only felt two claws grip his shoulders, as to not injure him further. He could faintly hear the cries above, from the two Wildclaws, he could assume.
"Hey Arun, why not join in on the fun?!"
"I must keep the child safe. If I could "join in on the fun," I would. Trust me."
They brought a child to this?? Who would do that? Whatever, he was almost dead. He felt himself being lifted higher into the air, as he could register more voices.
"Nihaja, you caught him?"
"Yep. Let's go, before we're overwhelmed! C'mon!"
He was barely conscious now. As he heard the scuffle end, Ginger could briefly hear someone speaking to him...
"Don't worry, I've got you. You'll be safe with us, no matter what."
