Pendegrast 0043

Pendegrast had always been a bit of a prodigy. She took to schooling quickly and was eager for knowledge, and devoted much of her youth to curling up in her clan's library and pouring over the books and preserved scientific papers. Her eagerness for learning made her parents proud, and during her adolescence she got an apprenticeship away from her clan's territory in a laboratory up on the edge of the Wyrmwound.

So she left her clan and all she'd known and traveled to the laboratory, and started her apprenticeship there. She learned many things about diseases and their cures, and medicine in general. She also learnt of magic and its role in healing, or destruction.

She took the laboratory as her Charge, devoting her life fully to the continuation of the medical sciences and protection of the information they learned. Many years went by, and she eventually decided to journey back to her birth clan to visit her parents and clutchmates.

During that time, a dangerous experiment was conducted back at the lab on a previously unharnassed type of residual energy. But it was unstable, and the lab was corrupted beyond recognition. The Filthy One noticed such an incursion so close to her cauldron, and swept the land clean with a plague of devastating proportions and destroyed the lab with monstrosities conjured from the bubbling Wyrmwood.

By the time Pendegrast returned, her home, her Charge, was utterly unrecognizable. In her grief she tried to rebuild, but the lingering Shade energy instead latched onto her. Realizing what was happening, she fled the lab and wandered the land aimlessly, the Shade slowly corrupting her mind. She was found by Seeker Danyl and went without protest to Sleetstorm Penitentiary, letting them imprison her as she had no attachments to the outside world anymore.

Now she spends much of her time pouring over what books she's allowed, desperately trying to find a cure for the Shade corruption before her mind entirely slips from her.
