In the background of the public day Grimm became Grimace, a young impressionable Gaoler watched from a distance. Fascinated by the transformation Grimace had experienced he wanted to know more. Against the will of the clan Samael would every night travel outside Xerium lands to the first signs of exiled lands and talk to Grimace.

Samael learned much about Xerath through Grimace and by each night grew to have an immense obsession and love for Grimace. One night Samael pledged his undying love to Grimace, who decided to use Samael to get inside info on Xerium, claiming that only through this info and becoming a spy Grimace would love Samael back.

Samael changed instantly from this. He now could help out and be valuable for his love. Samael became so stricken with love and corruption his eyes turned a deep red, symbolizing the evil within him.

Nobody really suspected him though. Samael was a dragon of few little words and it was always unlikely Samael could do much. At least that was what he wanted everyone in Xerium to think. He always claimed he was hatched with red eyes, and maybe it was a curse from the Exiled.

Agastya believed him and declared maybe through the teachings of Xerath he could be cured and cleansed from his birth "defect". Nobody knows about Samael's sexuality though, and he intend for it to stay that way, because who knows what would happen if they knew.
