caliginous the beast
ferocious || peevish || flexible

caliginous is no different from a wild dog. his words are garbled even to fellow coatls, and his movements aren't reminiscent of any kind of dragon.

Quote:
He didn’t really remember how he’d ended up in his Clan. The memory of coming to his forever-home was just gone. Being somewhere for a very long time made it very difficult to remember where he’d been… before it. It was weird to think about, that he wasn’t always here. He was very sure of that. Vague, unclear, and blurry memories of dragons looking confusedly at him flashed through his mind. Though he was never bullied or targeted by a group of dragons, he sort of recalled being… slightly ignored.

Not ignored. Just… Not many dragons had conversations with him, just passing by and waving or murmuring a quick hello. Hardly any dragon spoke to him. Not like they could. Caliginous scoffed to himself, rolling his icy blue eyes. Everyone else thought he spoke weird. His voice was fine, just the manner in which he spoke was a bit… unclear, and strange-sounding. He couldn’t help it. What was he supposed to do? I speak normally, just like everybody else! The thought drifted in his mind, irritation surging inside of him.

They also claimed he moved differently than the rest. Everyone else had ‘smooth, clear movements’ and he - according to them - had ‘strange, cutoff, stiff motions’. He didn’t understand it. He guarded them well and he gets the good old ‘you move and talk weird’. It was lovely.

A lot of his Clanmates called him the Beast of the Clan. He didn’t mind it - beasts were strong, admirable creatures who defended everything they knew fiercely… Right? Some claimed beasts were rude, offensive, and ugly creatures who strolled through the land, thinking they owned the place.

He wasn’t like that.

And every unfamiliar face he saw was immediately scared of him. The thought of a stranger made Caliginous growl irritably. This wasn’t their place. This was his home, the home he’d established himself in, the home he will forever stay in.

They often told him to “go defend us”. He didn’t mind it. Scaring off intruders was one of his best points. If a stranger even got close to the Clan, Caliginous was there on the scene, a hiss escaping him and a fierce gleam in his eyes. Whenever there was a battle, he was there, snarling and growling ferociously at the enemy while his Clan fought valiantly.

Then, he heard a voice, breaking him out of his thought.

“Caliginous!”

It was Carnage. The scent of metallic blood seemed to surround him as the dragon approached him. Carnage was well known for being… well… A tyrant. He wasn’t the kindest soul you’d ever meet. He was vicious and would kill at the flick of a tail. Yet, Carnage was one of the only dragons that really respected him, and that certainly made up for something.

“Mmmfm?” Caliginous queried, chewing on a Moonbeam Sardine.

“Cloudy and I are off to go check out this new battle scene.”

Cloudy was the kind, gentle, motherly - yet elderly - dragon who was often seen with the younger dragons, laughing in a lovely, nice tone. But, there’s always one dragon who takes it too far. They usually end up in the healer’s den after.

“Care to join?” Carnage asked, rocking back and forth on his feet as if he couldn’t bare to leave a second later.

“Mhmmf!” Caliginous nodded, standing up and swiping the Moonbeam Sardine’s bones to his left, and they scattered off in all different directions.

Caliginous and Carnage raced to the entrance, where Cloudy was waiting.

“Let’s go!” Cloudy exclaimed, rocking back and forth in excitement.

They all bolted off.
